It's networking with someone who at present is with the other tribe, who will be more willing to honestly share information post-merge about the other tribe's dynamics. Provided James finds the idol, he is likely to return the original one to Todd. Also, people presently believe Todd has the idol, so even though he hasn't got it, he is thought to be a waste of a vote. That may be why he told so many people he found it. Knowing who has the idols is also worth something in this game.

Someone said something about James having the Idol for no reason now and Im pretty sure everyone but JR was there when they said that. If I was James and I found the other Idol I would give back Todd's Idol and tell him I couldnt find the other one

When Courtney was trying to talk them into voting for JR, she said the plan didn't work and now James has the "immunity thing" for no reason. Frosti said, "Yeah, and I'm really upset about that." Who is he to be upset about it?

My guess is that by the end of next week's episode, everyone in the game is gonna know about the idols and what they are...maybe even who has them. So why would he lie if he's almost certain to be found out?

The clue said something along the lines of the 'idol being surrounded by four bats' or something, but it probably just means that the symbol in the center of the plate means 'immunity' in Chinese or something. I dunno.....it just seemed stupid that they gave James all that power for no reason. It was because it meant the difference between James being voted off or not, assuming that Zhan Hu would throw another challenge. The play was made by Todd, who could have either: a) kept the Fei Long idol and let James be voted off, meaning Zhan Hu would have an extra member for the merge AND the other idol....but at least he'd be immune for one TC....or b) give the idol to James, go into the merge with one extra member, remove any possibility of a Zhan Hu member having a hidden idol, and STILL have an idol for himself. Anyone worth staying in the game would choose option B.

If the James gang would have lost the immunity challange and Jeff was like were going to tribal now, then he wouldnt have the chance to get the idol and woould have been gone....

He had to assume that ZH would throw the challenge and vote out James. The only way to foil that plan is to give James the HII; it would blindside ZH and send Jamie home. Todd cements James' loyalty and sets up Erik, PG and maybe Frosti to be picked off. That takes Todd to F6 before he has to turn on any of his allies. Remember that Survivor doesn't show us everything. We know Todd explained to James where the HII was hidden. I suspect Todd was smart enough to tell James to return Todd's HII if James found the other HII. James strikes me as the kind of player who would be honest enough to return one HII if he Todd stuck his neck out to save James. If James keeps both, it wouldn't be hard to organize the remaining player to force James to spend both idols.

That would have meant James has no chance to get the idol since he is with FL until the IC. He wouldnt have returned to camp to get it. Really common sense, great move by Todd covered him incase of twists. He knew himself, and his allies were in no danger except James
