My take on it is that if they split between new and returning players there will be more variability in strategy when compared to an all ASS show, or compared
to only allowing 2 returning players as in Guatemala.
As JP said the basic premise of the 'social experiment' is to take a group of strangers to play survivor, and that the biggest downfall of ASS was that many of the shows players were plotting with each other prior to the show. And that they had developed relationships that could not be conveyed accurately to the viewing public, which ultimately affected game-play. At least with adding new players, the situation would be that you would have to create new alliances and new relationships and can not rely solely on some pre-arranged alliance. I also think that any returning winners might stand a better chance of advancing in the game, compared to ASS where they were being picked off by jealous rivals. |

Well said, Heliox. I agree! The half-ASS concept is new compared to full-ASS or two returning players. The fact that they'd be facing n00bs would help
counteract their outside-the-game relationships.
Personally, I think it would be interesting to see how this played out. ASS was interesting the first time (at least until it started) because we didn't know how the game's best would are against each other. Back before S8, I thought it would be interesting to have season 9 be the first 8 winners plus the 8 people voted out first. But I think now that we've seen what can result, a second full-ASS season would be boring. Half-ASS intrigues me, because we haven't seen this before. And if the n00bs are all super-fans, so much the better. Wouldn't a big fan want to match their wits against the game's greats? Just MHO. |

Really what makes them think we want to see most of these idiots a second time anyway? They should just bypass ASS2 and cancel the show.

Steph deserves a spot on ASS2 because she was one of the stars of the show in Palau and also in Guatemala.

^ Exactly! She was easily the biggest character in Gautemala and probably the biggest in Palau as well (maybe second to Tom)

I totally disagree on that... Steph's second chance was NOT an all stars season. It was merely a twist of the game. I think that seasons 1-7 competed in ASS1, and anyone from seasons 9-15 should be able to compete in ASS2... including Steph. In fact, they'd be stupid not to bring her back becauseI would agree with you if Steph had been voted out before the jury in Guatamala but she made the final 2. She had a real chance to win, the second time, and she blew it. She's unlikely to do that well a second time so why would she even bother. After all the negativity toward her from many of the other Guatemala contestants, I wouldn't be surprised if she even turned down an offer to play in S16. As I recall, about 5 Palau contestants went to her wedding whereas I think only 2 from Guatemala (Rafe and Amy) attended even though she made it a lot further in Guatemala. CBS has the final say on what happens - no questions asked. If they wanted All-Stars 2, they got it. Just like the first All-Stars season, CBS demanded it as season 8 and they got their way. Mark Burnett was not going to do it at that time. Yeah, but back in 2003, when ASS was filmed, Survivor was still the highest rated show on CBS. The first two seasons had astronomical ratings and Rupert was a big fan favorite, so I could understand why CBS demanded an All Star season. Survivor is no longer the highest rated show on CBS and a second All Stars won't affect ratings all that much. In addition, CBS wanted an All Stars season for S8 to go against the final season of Friends, which was beating Survivor during the first half hour of it's time period. Now, Survivor constantly wins its time slot even with a regular season. I don't see why CBS would be so adamant for an All Stars this time. The message board post that I brought here was the first info that confirmed what my source had told me earlier. So far I haven't seen any creditable evidence that S16 is a full All Star season. In due time, one of the spoiler pros (eg. TDT, survivorfever, Volcanic Glass, Danieau Bleau) will post some info. |

Who are the supporters kidding? In All Stars vs. Newbies, all of the All Stars are suddenly in the position of winners on the first ASS as a
must.eliminate.immediately. target for the new players. This is going to be one ugly, nasty game.

Like I said, I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's not true, but hearing the same thing from tullfan's source and now from MB's construction
crew does not bode well for it being a real All Stars.
