For me this was the episode that Survivor officially jumped the shark.

We don't have enough info to know if this was a smart move or not. They could have had a talk and all agreed that no matter what happened they would stick together at the merge. As was already mentioned, why should they assume Aaron and James would side with them at the merge? All the girls need to do is at the next challenge tell their teammates what their plan is. This way they can take matters into their own hand and when they tell their plans to their teammates on the other tribe they look like heroes. However, as was mentioned, at a challenge James should share the plans with his old tribe mates. And then this is why the show jumps the shark. Both tribes are best served by losing the challenge. Once James spills the beans his old tribe will realize if they win the challenge the other tribe will vote James and gain on them in the numbers game come merge time.

The biggest reason this show is now dead to me is that it just made the game pure luck. James and Aaron were put into a position through no fault of their own where they were helpless. They play a great game, made friends and won challenges. Now they get put into the minority and can't even save themselves by winning a challenge and getting immunity. If you lose challenges and lose the numbers you deserve to go. If you can't make friends you deserve to go. If you are lazy and sit on your butt you deserve to go. If you are bossy and irritate people you deserve to go. But with these new rules you can do everything perfectly only to be served up as a sacrificial lamb for the other tribe to slaughter. And vise versa...you can be a pathetic player only to have the show serve up the best two players from the other tribe. We seem to have reached the point where you get rewarded for being a pathetic player. I hope and pray this is all made public at the next challenge and both tribes go into tank mode and Probst is left sitting there begging for someone to please finish their puzzle and win the challenge. And this is why the girls were idiots for not keeping their plan quite. If they would have kept their big mouths shut and not act like giggly 8th grade girls then James wouldn't have known what was up and couldn't warn his old tribe mates. Any game show that turns intentionally losing into a viable strategy is stupid.
