I think the P was intended, especially being tied with the second lowest visibility. JR- CP4M How refrehsing! Even though I loved him this episode, he's still an ass. Does his strategy starting to work means that his demise will come soon? Zang-Hu: Sharea- OTT4M let me be the first to say that the way she came off was SELFISH and LAZY. "I'm ain't gon do nothing if I don't have to." This being said, I liked her this episode, because she was entertaining. Also, the fight with Dave seemed really childish on her part........ BUT our job is to look for intent of the editors. I keep telling you guys how important Previously On segments are but no one listens to me. This is a prime example where it's really signigicant towards finding the intent of the editors. If they wanted her OTTnegative, they would not have said she won the last two challenges. They would not have revealed her strategy about conserving energy for challenge strength (Blake got the same OTT3M from me for his strategy). I don't think we're supposed to like her, but I do think we're supposed to understand why she stays and why Dave left. Dave- OTT4M speak of the Devi, er, Angel we have Dave, who has the same exact rating. hmmm you say? I'll speak more of it in my WD post, but he was described as a good leader for his tribe. His personality is what ticked people off. This was actually a good send off when you think about it. Dave took on leadership for his tribe, basically a sacrifice, and passed on good work-ethic to people like Frosti and Erik and PG to take over. When everyone realized how well Dave instilled a sense of work ethic while he was gone, they figured they wouldn't have to deal with his personality anymore... I thought about CP for his "spy mission" because it reminded me of the Art of War, but that scene was about Todd, not Dave. Frosti- MOR3 narrator. Erik- MOR3 narrator. I love his glasses btw. : } Said he'd like to get rid of both Sharea/Dave. Does this mean that the Sharea/Erik/Jaime deal isn't as tight as we'd like to think? Jaime- UTR2 BAM, as soon as she's not involved with the HII, she's back to nothing. Todd said that the HII could be the key to a million dollars. She's still on my radar, but not for long. *PG- MOR2 She said something about writing the days down before she forgot. WHY WAS THIS ADDED IN?! There's no random editing in Survivor... Also the theme of balance was brought up again surrounding PG at TC. She's my top winner right now.

And Jean Robert's confessional hitting us over the head into the opening credits that she won't survive the game or "she's the luckiest person to play this game." This is highlighted and underlined! We get the point, only to say Holy Shit when she wins the game. And her confessional, although possibly perceived as negative, is essentially about surviving. "As long as it's not me." -and in the context of the episode, it serves no purpose. Except of course in the grand scheme of things. Afterall, Sandra said this as well. Courtney is a clear cut contender, and I'm convinced the people ruling her out have some inside information that they're projecting. Also, PeeGee had the moment of crossing off the number of days. It was her best moment in an underedited episode for her. Todd is still right there. Amanda had the confessionals during the pivotal learning from the culture moment. And Jean Robert once again is underlined in the recap from his strategy. It could easily end with Jean Robert winning and Jeff declaring "How DID he do it? This guys had the strategy of PURPOSELY angering people and being lazy!! And wins 5-2!! More with Jean Robert and his unique gameplay when we come back..." Or even with Courtney -"This girl was down to seventy pounds, sat out virtually every challenge, complained about her tribe, and still managed to win the final challenge and win the game..."

Most likely they were told they had to sit out a man prior to the challenge, and knew Courtney had to be used in the IC no matter what.

I forgot that they had to sent out a male. Someone tell me why Sharea is OTTN again. Maybe I'm just a rebel, but both Dave and Sharea had identical stories in many ways. They were two sides of the same coin. They both either get OTTN (for Erik saying he wants both of them out) or they both get OTTM...

Oh ye of little faith! I'm actually hurt. I see your point, cl. And I thought about the Sandra similarity at the time. But Sandra had a much more positive introduction to us. And, yes, that was what actually occurred. She spoke Spanish and helped with purchases. It had to be shown. But I'm seeing her comments as more cynical than fiesty. Though, now that you shove my nose in it, it is probably Courtney's best endgame line so far. And the P-G scene cutting the days into the bamboo I totally forgot! I was listening for quotes on my second watch and overlooked how oddly isolated her calling out and carving were to what happened before and after. Was her comment tied into the story in any way? Must rewatch again... And, yes, Jean-Robert is giving good endgame quotes and getting mixed comments. Still a huge stretch. I'm trying to narrow this lot down. Your points aren't helping!

I think this stands out more than other "celebratory (yes I made a word up) shots" because it was just her and not the usual gigantic group hug with everyone screaming.

I'll be the first to say I am not a support of the "Amanda" crowd, but something was very irky about it. Very "I'm going to beat these suckers with a smile"-esque.

Amanda- MORP2- UTR is arguable, I'll have to re-watch, but she got what she needed and a lot of noticeable face shots pre and post reward challenge and some fluff confessionals which fit in well. Courtney- MOR2- I guess UTR was arguable, but that one scene centered around her, so it fits her best. Denise- MORP3- Finally some airtime, but no personal development. Meh. James- UTR2- His edit is confusing to me. I feel like something is there, but I'm not sure what. Jean-Robert- CPP4- Definite redemption this week. Todd- MOR3- I didn't see any complexity, he was shown because he had to be shown. Dave- OTT5- Not sure if there was any tone, Dave is just Dave, not a good or bad guy. Erik- MOR3- I actually thought he might be a 4 visibility, he almost seemed conflicted, which almost earned him a CP, but it was more about Sherea and Dave than it was about Erik. Frosti- MOR3- Some interesting quotes from the kid, questionable P? Jaime- UTR2- She got a confessional, but she was technically a 1 vis. I would almost go MOR1 if I thought it was possible. Peih-Gee- UTR2- Still somewhat integrated in the story. Will have to rewatch to determine MOR vs UTR. Sherea- OTTN5- Bizarre editing. Hero in the intro, then the tribe idiot later on. Wow, just wow.

I love that it's not the same old same old and there are not people we have to hate and people we have to love, eg. Courtney (some people love her some hate her). I agree with the person who said it might not be the edit that's boring. How would you edit a thoroughly insipid guy if he was the winner? Pretty much like this would be my guess. Amanda - MOR2. Nice looking girl, but I'm still not seeing what some of you are in her edit, especially first episode. Courtney - UTR2. She was a focus early on, then pretty much disappeared. I think it's a mistake to eliminate her, and I still think the OTTN in ep. 1 was a mistake too. This episode doesn't change her status. She still has storyline foundations that are pointing to late in the game. Denise - MOR3. Woo hoo. She speaks. James - UTR2. Pretty quiet, pretty toneless. JR - MOR4. Reeled back from OTT land. Todd - MOR3. Could have used a better cool-down, but I can't fully eliminate him yet, even if I do think he is the season's strategic distraction. Dave - OTTN5. Buh-bye nut job. Have fun with the wrestler chick. Erik - MOR3. He speaks. Not so woo hoo. Gawd he's even more boring than Aaron. Frosti - UTR3. Nice kid, no chance in hell. Jamie - UTR1. I really hope the previews are just a red-herring. A nice sweet girl like you can do so much better. P.G. - UTR2. She's the only person on this tribe with anything resembling a winner's edit. At this stage in the game, this is exactly what she needs from her edit. Sherea - OTTN5. It's not too often that you have a tribe saying they wish they could vote out 2 people at TC, but when somebody goes out of their way to be extra lazy, it does make the tribe seem reasonable, even with the numbers game. Winner chances: 1 - Aaron, 2 - PG, 3 - Courtney, 4 - Todd, 5 - Jamie, 6 - Amanda, 7 - Chicken.

He dropped below the radar this episode, but with his edit so far, that has no consequence on his viability as a winner. Todd - MOR. Even in a relatively calm episode, he has one of the most memorable scenes. Obviously, he will be the one to find the hidden immunity, but I still think he's far too prominent to win. Unfortunately, due to lack of many other contenders, he's still near the top of potential winners. Amanda - UTR. I know she had a confessional, but it was fluff. While I can't rule her out, she doesn't look like winner material in the episodes I've seen. James - MOR. His edit has bounced around so much, I'm not sure what to think of him, but they made a point of separating him a bit from Jean-Robert and showed his mixed feelings regarding him. His "I told you about the hugging." comment was more about Dave than himself. Courtney - MORM. I only really noticed her in the opening sequence, but she really didn't seem as sympathetic this time around. In fact, she seemed a lot like Sherea (overly touchy) except without the negative reinforcement. Denise - MORP. She narrates the reward scene in enthusiastic and grateful terms. The P is weak, but I still think it was there. Jean-Robert - MORN. Even when providing service to the tribe, it is presented in a somewhat negative way. Still, I was struck by how even the little bit of insight that he was able to communicate in Mandarin made him seem less of a caricature. Sherea - OTTN. So what if she's good in challenges? That's skill, not personality, and the editors went out of their way to make her look as badly as possible. The weird mention of her in the intro was probably more to give weight to the later reason for keeping her than to give any positive offset. Peih Gee - UTR. She didn't have much this episode, but she still wasn't forgettable. With Dave gone, does she become the de facto leader? Perhaps not, since we weren't shown her stepping up during Dave's absence. Erik - MOR. He's presented as making the call for the tribe though I don't think that's probably accurate, but basically his presence is all narration. The conflict in the choice, such as it was, didn't rise to the level of complexity needed for CP. Jaime - UTR. In an episode where she neither gave nor received a clue, she was absent. Frosti - MOR. He seemed to share narrator duties with Erik for the most part although he did advise Dave he was still annoying too many people. He got the cocky, "See you in a minute, guy" (or something like that) before the immunity challenge, but obviously they lost. Still, it didn't seem overly negative, just there. Wouldn't it be ironic if he focuses so much on being a challenge asset that that's the reason he's eventually the first booted from his defeated tribe (making a lot of assumptions there)? Dave - CPM. We got more into Dave's head this episode, though it is a place I wouldn't want to visit very often. He's still annoying - to both tribes, but he clearly seemed to be in the right versus Sherea when she wanted to throw out his shells. He was just so obviously clueless that I actually felt sorry for him a few times during the episode.

Fei Long Aaron - UTR2 Amanda - MORP2 Courtney - MOR2 Denise - MORP3 James - UTRN2 Jean Robert - CP4 Todd - MOR3 Zhan Hu Dave - OTT5 Erik - MOR3 Frosti - MOR3 Jaime - UTR1 Peih Gee - UTR2 Sherea - CPN5 I know, some of these may seem off, but I didn't see Sherea as OTT, Jean Robert as either P or N, and James as toneless. Sherea, while being part of some OTT situations, did have some insightful confessionals. Not completely strategy related, but we did get fully into her head about why she wasn't doing anything around camp. I'm contrasting this to my all-time favorite castaway, Kim Mullen, who was also given the "girl who doesn't do shit around camp" edit. But we never heard her real insight from it, that's why she was OTTN. Sherea, on the other hand, told us why a multitude of times. And her strategy does work - she's an extremely strong challenge competitor. Even though I gave Erik & Frosti MOR3's, I can't remember a single thing either one of them even said or done. One of them might have to change to an UTR3, since their facetime was so insignificant and forgettable. That's a shame, since I do like Frosti, but Erik is just beyond boring. Sucks that he's gonna get real airtime next week too. At least Jaime will as well.

He had the scene where he argued with Courtney (although she DID seem more unreasonable). Then we had the scene where he was happy to see the children and speak Mandarin. But THEN, we get the scene of James basically saying that Jean-Robert is lazy and Jean-Robert ordering people around somewhat.

We saw that Jean-Robert was just translating, not "barking out orders". He was literally just translating, nothing else. James was the one who got all uptight about it. Combined with his "Don't hug me" shit with Dave, I'm giving James an UTRN2. I'll explain it more in detail in my WD report, but I think that scene was supposed to make James look bad, not Jean-Robert. But who knows, maybe that's just a matter of opinion, but that's definitely how it appeared to me. Oh yeah, and was anyone else worried that Sherea was actually going home this episode? I was so relieved she didn't, she's really an interesting character.
