This is my guilty pleasure and I hardly ever have anything bad to say about it. That said, last night sucked. That was supposed to be 89 right? The
clothing and the music were all from earlier in the decade and it was driving me freakin crazy. Also, and this is a big also, I was 18 in 1989 and I'll
be damned if I look that shitty for my age. Both the teens in that episode looked if they were 50+ not 36.

The math wiz ep with the kid from The Wire -- could that have possibly been any more by the numbers?

This is another episode with odd casting for the older actors. Why did the husband and the lover in the modern scenes look younger than the son?
I liked seeing some of the guest actors. It was great to see Tuc Watkins, and to see Carter's cousin from ER, the poor little rich boy who took too many drugs and got brain damage. I liked seeing Sonja Sohn again to revive her funny and endearing romance with the fat cop. The main story wasn't too good. |

This is the sort of eppie that I love -- they go back far enough to illuminate aspcects of life that we in 2007 didn't know about. I know about the War of
the Worlds but didn't know just how badly people bit on it. More interesting was the concept of the taxi dancer.
One thing that bugged me about this ep was that if everyone was around 30 years old in 1930, they'd be 107 right now. I wisht the killer hadn't been so lame. This could've been a CC classic. BTW - I read earlier that this is CC's 100th episode, a huge number of importance for syndicating. |

I just finished watching an old episode from 2004: Boy in the Box. Wow, that brought tears to my eyes at the end. It's about a six year old orphan boy
that was found dead in a box in 1958. Fantastic writing, wonderful casting.

Even more intriguing is the actual case of the Boy in the Box. It's a local unsolved case here in Philly from the 50's. There is a website about it, I think. |

If it helps make it a teensy bit more believable, the episode was set in 1938, and if they were 30, then they'd be 99 now.
Now that I see it, not much difference between 107 and 99. Surprising that so many of them were still alive: the husband, the lover, and the other taxi dancer who was probably 10 years younger than the others. |
