Father Time could have just sent Dan to the bus crash to save them himself, but instead cooked up an elaborate plan to create an entirely new life spawned from two random strangers. Basically it said "okay, go back and save this one guy. Okay, good job, but now you have to go here and make sure he has a kid. Great, but now you have to get the guy killed so he doesn't kill his kid. Okay, good, now everything is back to normal, except now there's an extra human on the planet who will save six others. See you next week." - One wonders why Dan made the first jump, to 1999 (they were watching a GB-SF game, he said the game was "eight years ago", so I assume it was the '99 wild-card game). He saw Livia get in a cab, and I take it to mean she was headed for the plane that would eventually crash. Why was he there? It's not like Time would have an underlying plan to get him to save Livia, because Livia appears to be a time-traveler too and wasn't really on the plane. - In reality I think it would take a little more than a buried ring and an old newspaper to convince someone that you can travel through time. That's okay though, corniness comes with the territory in time-travel stories. Like the brick cellular phone, and the little touches in his past self's apartment (it wouldn't be 1997 without the pipes screensaver and a 3-disc CD changer with Sarah McLachlan's "Surfacing" in it). Ooh, a picture of the World Trade Center. It must be the past! I hope they do more of that. - What, exactly, led Dan to believe that putting-right-where-once-went-wrong is a permanent occupation? He saves the day, then gets ready for his next adventure. What if Time just needed to borrow him for the weekend? This is gonna be a great show. Anti - I forgive you for anything negative you've ever said about a show I love. I really liked this show when I caught the pilot last week. I've been trying to get others to watch this one.

Yes, it does have more of an Early Edition feel than Quantum Leap after watching the actual episode. He's time travelling but not staying put. There were quite a few things that I also questioned - i.e. take a drug test and not noticing he's 20 years older too, but one big thing I did like was he didn't try to hide the fact he was time travelling. He told everyone that's what was happening. OHHHH, no big secret that I have to keep b/c I'm super special and NO ONE can know what I'm doing so I have to make up these cockamamey (sp) stories to cover up where I've been. Convincing them of the truth was probably harder than making up some story though. The ring and newspaper were ok, but it's been done. Something similar to hide the wallet in Frequency. Also, I thought his cell service always cut out when he "leaped." He couldn't take a picture with it is what I gathered. Oh and I surely want to see the backstory on how he and the wife, brothers ex g/f hooked up. That's probably why brother doesn't care too much for him.

If I had to actually remember to sit down at 10:00pm on Mondays to watch this show, it would never happen. This is one of a few show that I will watch that are not good enough to watch live, but not bad enough to skip altogether. One thing I noticed about the first time he went back briefly and saw his fiance get into the cab for the airport...he later told (I can't remember)his wife or brother that he went back and saw her, but he said something like 'but she was getting a cab to the airport, I wasn't taking her' implying that in the original time-line he was there with her going to the airport, but in his jump-back he wasn't there. Maybe something significant?

Journeyman got 9.48 million viewers last night, which doesn't sound too bad. But remember Studio 60 got 13.41 million viewers in its first episode in that timeslot last year and we all know what happened to that show. So a lot will depend on ratings for the second episode. Hopefully it can hold steady. Interestingly, no new show has cracked the 10 million viewer mark yet. Private Practice likely will on Wednesday. Maybe Cane can do it tonight. We'll see.

This one isn't gonna work, too gimmicky, I watched part of it again, its like they had to repeatedly hit you over the head with: "hey, he is back in time!!! Look, funny clothes, big phones, world trade center, Reagan calendars, Jane on the Today Show wearing a silly dress! See? Its the past!!!! Get it now?" I know that pilots usually suffer from exposition overload "honey, its our 10th anniversary, I sure am glad I kicked drugs 6 years ago, after my ex died in a plane crash 11 years ago" But, unless they get some better writing, this one is lost on me.

I got Quantum Leap vibes from it, but I have never seen that other show you guys are comparing it to. I have a question, so did the Gaines guy not get caught for the double murder in that timeline? When he first googled him, it showed him sipping wine somewhere and nothing about having killed 2 people. Or was that a timeline before he had that chick keep the kid? He should have been caught, it was in the middle of the day and the chick who was helping the mom and Jacob saw Gaines when she was told to bring the son inside. But I guess we don't know what info was there on the murder, it just said "in an apparent"

I believe it goes - J-man saves the guy from the bus hitting him and guy meets with girlfriend, then guy and girlfriend discuss her pregnancy and J-man talks her into keeping baby, after that the J-man sees article that a double murder occurred then he goes back in time and stops guy from killing wife. Last article J-man sees is that the son saves six children from a firey crash.

I originally thought he may have made a mistake and the guy was supposed to get hit by the bus the first time. He was then sent back to correct the mistake of saving the guy in the first place. But, if she wasn't pregnant the first time he saved him from being smacked by the bus, I guess that doesn't quite fit.

D now goes forward and googles BG to find him drinking wine (no mention of the BG killing spree. sooo... many years later. sigh this is the breakdown.) * so since D saved BG from death, BG hooked up with his girlfriend (G) and knocked her up. D goes back now and talkes G out of the abortion. now there is a baby (b). moving forward, D googles that G & b are kilt by BG. D goes back and saves G & b by getting BG kilt by a bus. b goes on to save several in a crash of some sorts. yay! but! * if BG kilt G & b that should have been in the first google hit before BG posing and drinking wine. and that would have been appropriate in the time line of D and BG and BG trying to kill G & b, according to the show. this show will fail because its like calculas... too hard to follow, what's the point... Shouldn't the first Google hit be describing bin Laden as a terrorist who was responsible for 9/11? Jesus Christ... Anywho, I loved this show, but I'm generally fascinated by time travel in any case. I hope, if this lasts, that they can really explore the different aspects of time travel and its consequences, such as different timelines, altering future events that you didn't mean to, being in the same place as yourself. I hope that they really get into the theory of it, although the show has already demonstrated somewhat of an isolationist approach (he saved Gaines and apparently nothing else is different), and I doubt the general public is as interested in time travel theory as I am. Get it now?" agreeance on the gimmicky bit... there was a show called reunion or summat, on a year or two ago, which was notoriously clumsy in this manner i also hated the ending with the rain and the music swelling ---- sooooooooo cliched This show is unbelievably easy to follow. The only way they could make it easier is if they stamped the date on the screen and had some guy yell "HE WENT BACK IN TIME!!" are you having a laugh????? i was also playing aroud online while wathing this, so admittedly it didn't have my full attention, but i found it confusing as hell. in fact, I have NO idea what the hell happened. I know there's this guy, who despite having an average paying job lives in a multimillion dollar property (in SF houses like that just don't exist unless you're a member of the extended Getty family) and that he used to be engaged to a very hot lawyer, and once she dies he settles for stealing his brother's significantly less attractive woman. I don't understand what else occurred. or if it's worth my time to go back and rewatch it without being distracted. It is awfully funny Moon Bloodgood seems to be typecast as the hot dead fiance of a time traveller.

BG was happy then... (zzzaaappp D goes back in time.)-----------> D convinces G not to abort b. BG and G get to be unhappily married, b gets to be. return... 2007 (D now discovers BG kills G and b) (zzzaaappp D goes back in time.)-----------> D gets BG to run in front of bus, saving G and b. return... 2007 (D discovers b saved folks in wreck. understanding his task was to save b all along. fuck the happy "wine drinking" BG. he was just a pawn in this the whole time and was going to get hit by some sort of public transit. such was his fate. ) i take back my "fuck you", defalim. that really was easy to follow in the convoluted way, and in the few minutes it was presented (now that i've had a few days and many posts to ponder it. and i am sure every nielsen family will ponder this question the same way too. and come up with the same "ah ha" i just did. or not and maybe not tune in next week.) yeah, this show will be a big hit. for like the 3 eps before it gets canceled. its too much "math" in the way it is currently presented...
