Couldn't stand him originally, but smacking down Twatwaffle and gang made me like him in spite of himself. I'd watch this show at least once.

Boston Rob In Fight With Tontine ApplicantReality TV Magazine received an email tip for what is sure to become a very popular viral video. At a San Diego audition for the new Tontine reality TV show, host Boston Rob Mariano apparently got into a little bit of a skirmish with one of the applicants. According to the email tip we received, Boston Rob got into it with a guy who had just finished interviewing. The tipster said they didn't see the heckling that started the incident, but they did manage to catch part of the altercation on video. In the video, the applicant appears to shove Boston Rob, who responds by throwing a couple punches. It's hard to tell in the video if the punches connected or not. A Tontine staff person steps in to breakup the altercation, and then the applicant appears to be on his way. When Boston Rob was in Nashville for the Tontine auditions, Reality TV Magazine got the opportunity to interview him. While we didn't see any punches being thrown at the Nashville auditions, Boston Rob did tell us "I think the cool thing about me being a host is because I've competed before, I kind of know the ins and the outs and the tricks that the contestants try to play on the host, you know, trying to get away with every little thing, and they're not going to get much past me, that's for sure." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HjLJ-qUNvU&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Erealitytvmagazine%2Ecom%2Fblog%2F2007%2F08%2Fboston%2Drob%2Din%2Df%2Ehtml |

How is someone wanting to beat up Boston Rob newsworthy? I assumed it was just a natural human emotion.

If anyone is interested the next step in the casting process is putting videos up on YouTube about why they belong on Tontine. If you search "Tontine
Audition" a whole list of audition tapes will come up. Whoever has the best video (80 percent based on judges, 20 percent by view count and ratings) will
win 10000 dollars and probably a spot on the show. Mine is number 100601 so if you could show me some love I would appreciate it.

Why are they still touting it as teh "biggest prize in reality TV history"? Pof10 kinda stole their thunder there. |

I'm pretty sure CBS would pick up the show in a heart beat. They adore Romber. It will probably replace a failed CBS Show.

I thought I heard Rob say (in an interview) that you had to put Your life savings in to be a participant on the show? as if.

I thought I heard Rob say (in an interview) that you had to put Your life savings in to be a participant on the show? as if.Yes indeed. I was waiting to read the fine print on that one...I was banking on a big network backing the show, and that the contestants would be told, right after they got eliminated, "...Psych!! You're not really on the line for that money you pledged. In fact, whatever you pledged, that is what you win". Okay, so I was dreaming....but you gotta admit, THAT (giving the losers winnings equal to what they thought they had pledged) would have been a great twist!

FYI:
"Tontine," which will air in fall 2008, will pit 15 contestants against each other in a series of physical and mental challenges in seven continents and lasting more than 100 days. The winner will receive $10 million, coming exclusively from the estates of the 14 losing contestants. Yippee...1 year to go ![]()
