I am putting forth an effort, but I am not sure they are continuing the show. My interview tape was of me driving down the highway. I taped it while on my way to mail it. I never watched it, but I am assuming it was funny because truckers were honking at me and I was flipping them off as I talked to the camera. That is great. Too bad you didn't get picked for TAR.

He was there for the final interviews and for a bunch of time during the show. He was definately there and he was a very kind man with a lovely wife. He got us fired up with an inspirational talk at CBS for our last interviews. He is a very charasmatic person. That makes me wonder even more how it was that this show went so horribly wrong. (I had been sorta thinking maybe MB had so much going on that he wasn't paying enough attention to Pirate Master.) I know we think there were so flaws in the game design, but it still seems to me that those could have been tweaked in future seasons. Like there are people who can relate the most ordinary event from their life, and make it interesting and relevant, yet other people tell a story of something quite exciting and unique, but manage to make it dull. Somehow, even from the first episode, Pirate Master just wasn't engaging at all to watch. Is that a vision thing, that MB somehow got completely off-track with what people will watch? An editing problem that couldn't implement the vision? Production difficulties, that the right establishing scenes and confessionals were never captured? (Do we know which of the Pirate Master production and post-production crew have previous realitys how successes?)

The rules of the game were too abstract and the game itself was too contrived to be successful.. Since, most members of the red and black teams were randomly chosen each week, early on, the viewers didn't really care which team found the treasure. The expeditions were too repetitive. Aspects like the black spot and the royal pardon seemed very contrived. Pirate Master is a game which is fun, challenging and entertaining to play but it wasn't all that entertaining to watch.

Why did it seem like a good idea when they thought it up, and carried it out, yet was fairly thoroughly awful as presented to us? He's got a good bit of experience now with "startling twists", casting, editing, etc in however many seasons of Survivor and all the other franchises, how did the development process that resulted in so many successful or at least adequate reality shows, turn out Pirate Master as well? It does seem like an interesting sort of adult fantasy summer camp thing. Maybe the Dominica tourism folks can make something of it...

Maybe Reality TV is just over saturated and it's time for a new better idea. I remember when Survivor was a brand new concept and people said "wow". Now when we're starting on the 15th season, is there any wow factor left? It seems to try to out do itself and has since that cluster fuck we call ASS. I think it's time to put this puppy to rest along with 99% of the reality bullshit. I mean seriously. Look at what we have. Scott Baio? Who cares why this idiot isn't married. Boring. XX of Love? Flava Flav at least has a personality but do we need a 3rd season of Flavor of Love? On Rock of Love Bret Michaels doesn't even have enthuisasm for his own show. His monotonish "Would you stay in this house and rock my world" says it all. Kid Nation? Sorry, not interested at all. I'd rather watch those 18th century house shows. The vote them off reality shows are over saturating the market. Pirate Master had an interesting idea but when you strip away the layers, it's basically just another Survivor, Big Brother, etc etc, type show. Plus if they had done this one when Pirates of the Caribbean was new, it might have had a chance but POTC-3 sucked major ass. Until someone comes up with a new exciting format, I think shows like this are doomed unless they pull in mega ratings which 1) isn't going to happen in the summer and 2) how many new shows are really given a chance anyway? Look at Jericho. I've never watched it but apparently it was very popular and they pulled it. The expeditions were repetative but so are the challenges on Survivor. Heck they even cloned some survivor contestants it looked like with Louie = Rupert and Laurel = Courtney/Flicka. I honestly think the only thing that could have redeemed this show in the viewer's eyes would have been if Jay had won. But then again, I'm just one voice among the hoards. I'm finding it hard to get excited these days and I find I don't even really care about Survivor:China. Will I watch it? Sure, I've watched them all so why not but will I honestly care? I doubt it.

Survivor is all about the social game but on Pirate Masters, it was bullshit that the ghosts got to decide who would be the F2. It should have been first two out of three in the F2, then perhaps the Ghosts could weigh in on who wins. The fact that Jay got his balls busted before even going into the F2 was pure crap. Otherwise, the show for me only got better which is more than I can say for most incarnations of Survivor.

The whole thing was the first group/person to get to the treasure wins. Having the ghosts decide between Jay and Christa made a mockery of the entire point of the show. Jay would have clearly come in 2nd and should have been able to compete against Ben for the win. I still think they should have walked the plank instead of being cut adrift. That seems more piratey.

I personally think it is just further proof that most of the early Survivor seasons were good in spite MB's horrible instincts . Most of the recent tweaks to Survivor have made the show progressively worse each season I think as long as a season is dominated by a clean cut looking boring alpha male MB assumes fans will be happy .Most of all the big rule changes happened to Survivor because he didn't want players like Chris or Amba to win again.

I know I watched Jericho when it first started, even got through the first five episodes before I dropped it. Sounds just like the same 40 people sent nuts...I'll be shocked if that show is renewed past the new 7 episodes.

And when the host intro the game, when he said "pirate master", the camera was on Ben standing higher up on the ship...so, it's duh! Christa was totally invincible in ep 1.
