Even my hopelessly 80s friends don't seem to remember "Shiny Shiny" or "John Wayne is Big Leggy." But this is still one of my fave
Brit Pop bands of my (gulp) high school years. Anyone else remember them? Or, as always, am I completely alone?

Shiny shiny bad times behind me...
Guess to me it was more cutting edge than obnoxious lol. On reflection, it probably was, but I just loved them. And John Wayne is big leggy was hilarious... He knows what's right and he knows that god is with him 'cos he;s white - Big Leggy lives. J-J-J-J-T-John wayne. John Wayne in lovers lane - making whoopee with his squaw. But his bullet belt keeps a-gettin' in the way It's making his life a bore. So she says to him - Take off that thing . . . It's getting right between us. Now listen honey I can't do that not even for you my sweetness. Now Big John if that's a fact then how d'you propose we do our act? If that's the way it's gonna be get the hell out of my tepee. Now speckled hen you stop your squawkin' Big Bad Rooster's doin' the talking. I know a trick we ought to try turn right over - you'll know why.

I have "Shiny Shiny" on my I.pod. Sort of Adam and the Ants meet Dexy's Midnight Runners...
I listened it two days ago while on my walk. It's hard not to skip while listening to it though, so I would not recommend it. |

I was just passing time, Onno. And I dropped my toilet paper. I AM NOT GAY.
So John Wayne is Big Leggy is also on YouTube, but I suck now at inserting things. And while I was there I went on an 80s best memory fest: Altered Images, Strawberry Switchblade, Bow Wow Wow (and they did so much more than I Want Candy peeps. I'm remembering myself with the striped bleached hair... my Mormon parents nearly disowned me. Ahhhhh. Those days were nearly as AWESOME as RFN. |
