DH left Mr. Muttly unkenneled while he mowed the lawn. Dinner was on the stove with a lid on it. Needless to say, the kids and I didn't have Funky Chicken when we came home from swimming.

Could one anticipate a trip to the vet if their dog ate approximately seven chicken thighs and a stick of butter? The chicken was cooked.

You shouldn't really eat buttered up chicken thighs after swimming anyway.

You can, you just have to wait 15 minutes.

watch the dog carefully. If it's not acting itself in ANYway (eating and drinking especially) call the vet.

Jesus Christ, it just ate seven chickens and a stick of butter. It probably isn't going to eat for a little while.

The bones might stick in his throat when he throws it up.

Keep him outside. The butter alone is going to give him the runs. Put a large amount of chicken in him and your gonna need stanley steamer for your carpet.

The problem with the chicken bones is the fact that they splinter and are very sharp... though poochy may have chewed them down enough to swallow... they could
cut and rip at everything on the way down... I lost a dog to this (internal bleeding).
Keep an eye on him, and yes, check his poops... because if it didnt cut him on the way down, it could cut him on the way out. |

Dinner was on the stove with a lid on it.The dog pulled a chair to the stove, removed the lid and set it aside, and then devoured dinner? Did he do the dishes after? If not, it's the pound for him. |

When my dog was younger she would stand on her back legs and could reach everything on the stove. She would always be eating some portion of dinner. Now she
just waits for my neighbor to toss her leftovers out into the yard. The neighbor thinks she's feeding the animals -- she really is just feeding my dog and
the other neighbors two huge poodles.

Hope your dog is okay. The vet is always a good choice when in doubt. If your dog is sick they will usually eat grass to help their digestion and we give our
dogs small curd cottage cheese (about a cup) if they dry heave or burp alot. It's almost like Pepto Bismal to them.

The bones might stick in his throat when he throws it up That's what the butter's going to fix. Dogs ain't dumb. |

If you go to the vet now, they can induce vomitting which may get rid of some or all of the bones. But a vet trip may be unnecessary. Basically you'll have
to wait and see if the bones cause a blockage or 'pass naturally.' If they pass naturally, problem solved. Watch your dog over the next couple days to
see how he acts and if he defecates the bones.
