Those videos are great and really do give a good grasp on the competition...Denise's video is interesting because she was talking about pregame alliances
formed with people eating lunch and stuff. She was also talking about her noticing all ready the bonds between people and who was all ready aligning...I think
she has a good head on her shoulders. She said she would sit at lunch with different people every day to make sure that she really got to know everyone, and
that she wanted to align with the "platinum blonde" girl and the kid she called "spike"...so I'm guessing Courtney and Frosti?
Interesting how she's going more for the younger crowd to align with when she's on a predominately older tribe...
The other interesting thing was it seemed as if there was a showmance with Amanda and Aaron, and while everyone was hanging out on their tribe these two remained pretty separated. I think, barring a switch, they'll be early targets on Fei Long. I also got the impression that Jean is not going to last long either. If I had to guess, the core alliance at Fei Long is going to be Denise, Courtney, Todd, Leslie, and James (for mere strength). Aaron, Amanda, and Jean are going to be early targets...in my opinion at least. |

Do we actually know for sure who applied vs. got recruited? I had trouble getting the volume high enough on the TV Guide videos, so I may have missed
something, but I believe Leslie, Todd, and Chicken Steve applied. It sounded like Denise and Jaime applied for Pirate Master. Sherea says a friend encouraged
her to apply. Amanda is supposedly a big fan who has seen every episode, and that's a plus, but it doesn't confirm one way or the other whether she was
recruited. I think it's safe to say Jean-R and Ashley were recruited.
Who am I forgetting? (And either way, that's already a lot better than last season, when only Gary was an applicant!) |

By "reasonably far", I mean I think Todd, Courtney and Peih-Gee probably make it to either a switch or the merge, since they're all online friends with each other, and became so fairly quickly. There's not much else to back that up atOn the same note, Erik and Jaime friended each other the day after they got back. Considering that he's originally from SC and that's where she's from, and she's trying to be the southern belle and Probst basically described him as a southern gentleman, I expect a showmance. I also wouldn't be surprised if Jaime turns on him, because when he returned he changed his myspace thing to say 'careful where you look for love'. FWIW, now it says "love is dangerous, love is vital". Of course he's a musician, so he could be trying out some new lyrics, who knows.

The TVGUIDE video is great stuff. It is like a pre-episode to the season with
interviews of each of the contestants.
There are different clips showing the tribes at work and their interactions. Here is some of what I gleaned from sections of the video: LAYING FOUNDATION ZHAN HU tribe THIS IS SECOND DAY (at least) at camp as Dave mentions about the water being from the day before. Mike (Frosti) seems to be working hard with Dave laying a concrete foundation. Get a feeling Mike, Pei Gee and Dave may be bonding over buidling the shelter. Should be a strong shelter although, Dave also seems to be digging holes for another structure which looks like shelter as well. Pei Geeh is very 'bossy' and seems very confident at directing what is going on with the building, but working closely with Frosti and Dave ASHLEY IS SICK Pei Geeh and Frosti are telling Ashley to go lay in the boat as she needs to keep her strength for IC. Could support her early demise. Sherea comes up for drink and doesn't interact much in this clip BUILDING WITH A SKIRT Zhan Zu tribe again: Eric and Jaime seem to be together chatting, showmance alliance? Pei Geeh asks/tells Jaime to cut her skirt for Dave's cut up hands. Again Pei Gee very bossy. Sherea comes up and asks if anyone 'needs any help' but seems very 'unimpressed' unmotivated in the way she asked. Seemed to be outside what was going on in this clip. Ashley looks unwell again Chicken no where in sight at Zhan Zu tribe... outsider already?? Feet conversation Fei Long tribe Amanda and Aaron seem friendly apart from the tribe, asking about their feet ... possible showmance alliance here.. get that vibe from their interaction Courtenay Denise and Leslie sitting around a dirty pot of water and discussing where to get dry wood and about their respective bad feet.. might be a theme in the hot humid climate Courtenay comes across as a bit abrasive and could definitely see her wearing on people James walks in and speaks quickly to ladies and moves on alone GROUP PHOTO SHOT JR and Aaron working on 'lean to' hut. In group photo shot, only Courtenay seems friendly leaning into Aaron and Todd and James seem separated in their posing. did not get a good feeling from this tribe compared to Zhan Zu Todd not shown interacting at all with tribemates...hmmm, hope this doesn't mean anything for his future in the game. CBS is definitely lightening up letting us in on some of the pre-show information. That there are silent connections between people before they are allowed to speak and begin the actual game.
