--Massive yays for Sylvia Chang (who I loved and voted for despite thinking it was a lost cause), Trey Edward Shults (ditto), and Krisha Fairchild (who I didn't vote for because I liked three others better, but she's in my Top 5). --People clearly had it out for La La Land. I'll admit I was one of them.--"Would that it twurrr so sample," people. Would that it twurrr so sample. (Since it really doesn't matter, can you tell us which scene got 2 votes, Marnie?)--Those are excellent Best Picture nominees. Very cosmopolitan. Hidden Figures sticks out a bit, but I ain't mad. It's fun too.
--And my annual reminder: in years where there have been five Sucks Awards acting nominees, the eventual Oscar winner has been a Sucks nominee 15 out of 16 times. (Before the veto was added, it was a perfect match, if I remember correctly.) This year seems likely to add to that, with Denzel/Casey, Dev/Mahershala, and Viola (if you count being bumped up to actress) all nominated.
