11. Jonathan & Victoria (The Amazing Race 6 - 6th Place) Below Reichen & Chip
You know what? I
don’t even want to make a detailed write-up as to why these two are terrible,
because we all know the stories.
Jonathan is a combination of the worst traits you can have as a reality
TV contestant. He’s obnoxious, he’s
loud, he’s abusive to others both on and off his team, and worst of all, he
comes across as extremely fake…the kind of person who acts like a big character
and acts quirky just to get focus. It’s
a combination of terrible traits for a terrible human being.
And while Victoria was often a victim of his bullying, upon
rewatch, I can’t really excuse her awful contribution to the team as well. He’d yell at her a lot and she’d take it, at
least prior to the shoving incident…and you had to feel sorry for her…except
for that high-pitched whiny voice she insisted on shrieking in EVERY time
something wasn’t going her way. And
after the shove, she started giving to Jon as good as she got, with her yelling
at him and blaming him for things he didn’t do, the same way he did that shit
to her. And it wasn’t karma so much as
shitty people treating each other like shit.
Plus more shrieking, bursting my eardrums every goddamn time. Fuck these two. They’re terrible people and terrible
characters. I’m not even gonna bother
condensing my episode recaps, because they need to be exposed as terrible
(except in leg 4 when they were decent for one and only one instance).
Leg 1: He’s already targeted by several other teams just on
the train to the airport, because he’s annoying. But he also thinks to ask for a phone so he
can call and find out which flight is the best of the initial three flights. “Between your blue and my yellow, we’re
superheroes.” Bolo, meanwhile, does not
give a FUCK. These two CONSTANTLY fight
with one another. They take the boat
detour and Jonathan refuses to sit down when Victoria tells him he’s getting in
the way of their driver…only for the driver to tell him to sit down.
Leg 2: Victoria whines about Jonathan blaming her for
getting lost. Victoria’s high-pitched
squeaky voice almost makes me feel like Jonathan is justified in his abuse of
her. Almost. Jonathan, in his zeal to rush forward in the
race, hits Victoria in the head with the car trunk door. He then proclaims first place despite two
teams having arrived ahead of him. He
then goes on a rant about Victoria owing him an apology for doubting him, and
how amazing he is. Jonathan takes control
during the boat trip, pissing everyone off by barking orders.
Leg 3: Jonathan yells at Victoria multiple times along the
route, including nearly hitting her in the cab from IKEA. When given the choice for the roadblock,
Jonathan sends Victoria to do the physically-demanding hay bale task. Jonathan is oddly supportive during the
roadblock, getting mad at Victoria for NOT slowing down, rather than for going
too slowly. They get lost looking for
the pitstop, but find it by seeing Gus & Hera check in.
Leg 4: They take random directions that prevent them from
making it to the clue right as it opens.
They book a different flight from the other seven teams in order to
potentially freak them out about their whereabouts. They hire what seems like two different
African men to guide them through the leg.
Jonathan passes out candy to random African children. Despite leading the pack all leg, they get
bunched on the ferry when they miss the first ferry, and wind up finishing
Leg 5: They get into a fight with Adam & Rebecca over
who follows who at the train station.
After finishing the detour first, Jonathan yells at Victoria in the cab
about not being driven enough. In the
lead, they get into more angry fights as Jonathan gets intense about wanting to
finish first for once. Jonathan forces
them to switch in the car, which Victoria can’t do, as the pedals are the wrong
height for her. As they run for the pit
stop against Freddy & Kendra, Jonathan drops his bag because he’s
struggling to carry it. Victoria picks
it up, not wanting it to get stolen, which allows Freddy & Kendra to
overtake them. Jonathan berates her
about this and shoves her multiple times.
When Phil confronts him, Jonathan continues to berate Victoria, rather
Leg 6a: They fight more and more, with Jonathan yelling at
Victoria for letting Hayden & Aaron beat them to the sign-up sheet. They get pulled over while driving for not
having their lights on…which Jonathan turns into getting the police to take
them to their destination. They catch up
to Gus & Hera and spend time bitching about them getting the first
flight. Victoria actually grows some
balls and yells at Jonathan for being an asshole/idiot, goofing around.
Recap: They find and return Freddy & Kendra’s lost clue.
Jonathan celebrates the first route
marker by accidentally breaking the horns off an ice sculpture.
Leg 6b: Jonathan yells at Victoria for not holding a cab, to
which she asks why he didn’t hold it himself if it’s so damn important. Jonathan forces Victoria to do the roadblock,
then bitches that she’s doing it wrong.
Victoria starts throwing up because the soup is too much for her to
handle. Victoria cries through the
roadblock while Jonathan, rather than supporting her, berates her. He apologizes for not doing the task himself,
but not for being an ass. They yell at a
woman on the funicular for potentially getting in their way on a footrace for
Leg 7: They try for the fast forward, only to see Adam &
Rebecca going for it first. They argue
over which detour option to take, which of course is Victoria’s fault according
to Jonathan. They get to the roadblock
in third place, but Jonathan fails to stomp grapes properly, and they fall to
fifth, while Victoria screeches at him to do better.

10. Freddy & Kendra (The Amazing Race 6 - 1st Place) Between Marshall & Lance and Kim & Leslie
Much like Reichen & Chip winning TAR4, Freddy &
Kendra winning TAR6 is an awful outcome because they were just such unpleasant
personalities throughout the season.
Granted, they’re not as bad as Reichen & Chip because they were
never really self-righteous so much as just negative people who never seemed to
actually enjoy their time on the race.
Basically, they were this constant sour force throughout the season,
whining about this or that (like taking an extra clue because Freddy lost his,
or not wanting to spend extra money on hotels).
Despite being minor negative characters through much of the
early race, they then hit Africa and suddenly they became important in terms of
Kendra making extremely offensive and racist comments with regards to the
poverty around them (and this came up again in Sri Lanka and Shanghai), or in
terms of Freddy threatening to break someone in half for accidentally smacking
him on the head while waiting for an hours of operation opening. And then they went right back to the minor
negativity with Kendra getting sick in Africa, taking petty revenge on Adam
& Rebecca, and faking a sick child to try and get on a better flight to
