I think Paris got accepted everywhere but Harvard.

I've seen Lisa Weil in other shows and she has shown great range and can play much older than she is playing now. Fantastic foresight to put Rory and Paris together. This will keep up the great dialogue quotient.

I agree with the poster that commented on how the wooden acting of the completely unfunny Jess character only highlighted how great the rest of this show was cast. The great writing is not foolproof - it needs to be in the hands of talented professionals. In my opinion only two other shows on air today are close to this show in snappy, fluid, enthralling dialogue - the West Wing and Ed. Maybe I'm getting jaded by all the plot/action-driven shows, but these rare few, well-written dialogue-driven shows are such a treat for me. (I was also a Sports Night fan when it was on).

Like BTVS, this show will suffer the fate of all WB shows and be forever overlooked at Emmy time. But judging by some of their choices for "winners", this is not a bad thing. (And how's this for talking out both sides of my ass: West Wing should not have won best drama! Love the show but there were better overall shows last year). The Emmys are a very poor yardstick by which to measure success, especially for WB shows.
