I, also believe that Ozzie gives up the idol. However, I think he gives it up permanently. (Hopefully, by throwing it in the fire at tribal council.)

- At this point in the game, everyone knows he has it, thanks to Eliza.
- As she also pointed out, no one who is playing to win wants to go to the finals against strong players.
- Everyone at camp is at least talking about blindsiding Ozzy to get the idol. (If he doesn't happen to overhear any of this, I bet Cirie manages to mention it to him. Just a friendly heads up.) He knows he may well have to play the idol this round, anyways.
- He knows he is a strong competitor for individual immunities, especially once Jason is out. (Ozzy has relationships with many people, and no one much likes Jason, so it should be easy enough to get him booted shortly.) He just barely lost Cook Islands to Yul, and there is no one anywhere near as strong a player as Yul left in this game.
- He may even genuinely talk himself around to the idea that a level playing field is a better game. (I think this is the conversation he is having with James in the preview.) He certainly plans on presenting that idea to the jury, since they're probably not going to by surf camp for disadvantaged kids, or college fund.
- Ozzy's editing this season has been about arrogance.

Curiously, I don't think that this is a blunder. Folks honor their promise not to vote him out this round, so he gets the same immunity effect as if he had played it, and he gains some goodwill or positioning for the late game. I don't even think it much changes the game, just perhaps slightly changes the boot order. With or without the idol, the only way he gets to the finals is to win all the immunity challenges.

(Giving up the idol does remove the possibility that he could give it to an ally at a future tribal council. I don't think Ozzy is that much of a strategic thinker, and frankly, I think he'd just as soon not be faced with having to make that decision.)

Same as I suggested above - Parvati has to vote for Alexis and Natalie's bud Erik, or else one of her own buds.

Why do you think the others would honor their word to Ozzy?

For most folks, there's no reason not to. They're getting the idol out, which is what they would have accomplished anyways. Any of them who are planning to be in the F3 with Ozzy on the jury especially don't have a reason to renege. It's a bad deal for Erik, but he is Ozzy's monkey. Or else he does vote for Ozzy, but it's just him so it doesn't matter.
