How long can you go without sleep? |

I mean, before you start seeing backwards-dancing midgets shooting pool in the breakroom at work?

I slept for 16 hours after. |

baby keeping your up?
I once went for about 2 weeks with virtually no sleep after my kid was born. It was a fucking nightmare. But my hormones were all fucked up. |

I went 3 days when I hurt my leg one time.
I was tripping near the end. |

Usually three days is when the optical effects become unavioidable.
Five days is WAY trippy. My personal best was nine days, I was seriously fucked up. |

Once I went about 72 hours (giving birth). I don't recall "optical effects" but I was a little distracted by the raging pain in my cooter. Of
course, you don't really sleep after that for quite a while either, but again there are some distractions and a lot of catnaps and my husband was really
good about helping with a lot of the middle of the night stuff.
I had insomnia a lot as a child and a young adult, but it's been a long time and I honestly don't remember my worst stretch. Kimbob the Old and Sleepy |

I've done almost 48 hours of working - at about 38 hours my judgement is impaired and I start stuttering

I think 30 hours is my tops, but that was when I was in college. Now it would probably be only about 20 hours. I've always needed lots of sleep.

I've gone almost 48 hours before, and I slept for 17 hours afterward. I wasn't really making sense anymore, and my sight was all messed up.

I'd got 24 hours without sleep because I watched the 24 season 1 marathon. I got slept after 12:00 AM, the season marathon finally ended on cable channel.
At 22nd hour, I was overslept and my energy was weak.

41 hours was the longest. I was working on a project in the field. We took a 3 hour nap after my boss almost dropped a 700 lb piece of equipment on my legs.
I wind up doing 22-24 hours straight about 5 times a year. |

I have never done more than 20 hours and probably couldn't. I am a huge wimp about sleep.

This one time at meditation camp...
I went the first three days without sleep when I first learned to meditate. Something about being in an alpha brain wave state for most of the day really messed with my sleep. I started having waking dreams, which was freaky-deaky. |

I was flying home from Europe and hadn't slept for about 28 hours when I swore I saw Karl Rove in the JFK airport. Freaky.

36 hours while playing the game of Cossack (Napolean Total War) as I'm playing as Urkaine against my famed Nemesis's England. It was pretty much back
and forth as I slowly gain edge (though not much as his horsemen were superior.... unless you include my hetmen horsemen, but I have competitive edge in
artilleries and economy against his horsemen and dreaded battleships). The only reason why we even stopped is because his girlfriend threw a huge fit, ending
the game prematurely.
After that, I slept for a good 10 hours. |

I drove a girlfriend's car from Northern California to Ft Worth, Texas one time non-stop in about 26 hours. Then I barely got a shower and some Thank You
love for a couple hours before her husband got home, so...maybe 35 hours? And I was pretty punchy by then. They had to wake me up to get off the flight on the
way back.
