So I'm posting from a rec center that we took my niece and nephew to. It has all these slides, geysers, and waterfalls that we didn't have when I was
a kid. I had a blast, but would've enjoyed it even more if I were their age.
Of course, they'll never know the joy of hippie teachers that don't believe in authority. |

I decided to go into denial on that one.
Another drawback: someone's playing Rihanna's 'SOS', except it's sung by a bunch of kids. Who thought up that idea? |

Despite the frills of a water park, nothing beats a childhood where your parents say every morning in the summer "just be home of dinner" and the
rest of the day is on your own.

One of my favorite things in the world: watch for the deranged asian kid in the mosh pit <3 |

Ooh no. I wouldn't want to be a kid these days. When I was a kid we were given free reign. We would get on our bikes and ride all over the neighborhood and
into nearby towns. I feel like everyone is so scared that someone will take off with their kid and molest them that these days kids are kept on a very short
leash.

I wouldn't want to be a kid now either. I remember being able to ride my bike to the 7-11 with friends and get a bag full of candy for a quarter.

I would hate being a kid now. Like some people mentioned before too much crap to worry about.
And when I was little we actually went OUTSIDE. Kids today live on computers and video games. I still remember my summers waking up at like 9 a.m. and staying outside, coming in only for some food breaks, and then being warned by ma dukes to be in "when the street lights come on." |

My brothers and me would spend our summers building tree forts, making dams across ditches, and setting fire to our model airplanes when we got bored of them.
My sister got cited by her town planners who said their tree fort was too high, all of the creeks have been culverted, and kids get expelled for even talking
about burning anything. Kids today don't know they were robbed of a real childhood.

My sister took my nephews to some indoor water park in Dallas or whatever and they all got diarrhea.

I seriously don't understand the appeal of Kidz Bop. When I was a little kid, I......liked actual songs.

The weird thing about Kidz Bop, if that's what I heard, was the kids were singing lyrics about "the way you make me feel" and such

we weren't paranoid
we'd get embarrased if our moms drove us to school 'cause only amamma's boys/girls were driven we read a lot we used our imaginations - I remember playing Tent City one summer in emulation of the MLK marches who camped in Washington DC |
