I have severe allergies which causes me to hack up a lot of mucus. Sometimes I'll just swallow it if I don't have anything to spit in, but on occasion I'll spit it in the palm of my hand to see what it looks like. The green ones I avoid, but the ones that look yellowish and are thick like raw clam I'll just pop back in my mouth and swallow. I can't get sick from that, right? I mean it's not like I'm swallowing a strangers mucus.

I'm in my 40's but I've been swallowing my mucus since I was a little kid. It's one of those things that stick with you when you get older. I used to chew my toenails when I was a teenager but now I can't lift up my foot to my mouth because my stomach is in the way.

Green mucus is actually the healthiest mucus, if you notice, your mucus is normally green and when you get sick or allergy-filled it will turn yellow or clear'ish. You're swallowing the sickly mucus!
