They have already narrowed the field down to 182 contestants. Those 182 are the people who have already been on the show. However - lets pretend that they have not yet played the game. Which 18 would you cast based on the persons bio. You can't go on how they played in their season as they HAVE NEVER PLAYED. Remember you are trying to cast a diverse, interesting cast. This is not a choose you faviourite 18 survivors thread. You are the casting director and the ratings of Survivor depends on you. WHO WILL IT BE?

But, your going to say, there are TOO MANY people! I figure since I get to pick the cast I also get to pick the format. This is my new twist. The Survivors are arranged into two groups of 18. They are then further divided into two tribes within each group. The two seperate groups are not avaliable that there is another group also out there. They compete for what would be the requisite 20-21 days up until the merge, each group (of two tribes) voting out 9 people. With nine remaining they will be anticipating a merge, and on schedule the merge comes. However, upon arriving at their next RC/IC instead of it being an individual immunity challenge they find out that they are still competing in a tribal immunity against another tribe of survivors that has been out there at the same time as them. The game could then proceed as it normally would though a larger jury might be in order. Despite the fact that we have early merges, late merges, tribe swaps, schoolyard pick'ems etc, we have never had something that would shake up the dynamic of the game as much as this would. CBS would love this, for the first half of the season you would air two episodes a week, hence, double the ad money. The final Survivors would of course be out there for much longer, probably closer to 60 days. This would also be a major change from what we expect. I think this is a workable concept and something that SEG should persue (MB, you listening?)

I'm going to cast Survivor Palau, so the show has been on the air, but is in a ratings slump after Vanuatu, casting people have narrowed it down to 182, and i'll go from there. Burnett feels that the slump in the past few seasons were too many models who were great in casting but dissapointments on the show, so the interview process has been kicked up a notch. The 32 people who are brought in front of Les Moonves for final approval are Richard Hatch Rudy Boesch Susan Hawk Colleen Haskell Colby Donaldson Jerri Manthey Jessie Camacho Gabe Cade Rob Mariano Gina Crews Sean Rector Shii Ann Huang Helen Glover Tanya Vance Ghandia Johnson Robb Zbachnik Rob Cesternino Rupert Boneham Jon Dalton Ryan Shoulders Sandra Diaz-Twine Dolly Neely Ami Cusack Rory Freeman Stephenie Lagrossa Tom Westman Jolanda Jones Ian Rosenberger Wanda Shirk Coby Archa Brian Corridan Tina Scheer With the 20 people going to Palau being Guys 1. Richard Hatch - His cocky and abrassive attitude endeared him to the casting crew, while pissing them off, perfect to bring the show back. 2. Rupert Boneham - A loveable character, America will relate to his insecurities. 3. Rob Mariano - A hard-working construction worker, funny guy, physically strong. 4. Colby Donaldson - The All-American Cowboy, women want him, men want to be him/ 5. Tom Westman - A NYC firefighter, an older version of Colby, a hero. 6. Rob Cesternino - What he lacks in physical strength he makes up in comedy and his love of the game. 7. Rory Freeman - Strong character, will cause some conflict 8. Jon Dalton - a shit-stirrer, america will love to hate. 9. Ian Rosenberger - Athletic, but not your run of the mill good looking guy, has substance. 10. Gabriel Cade - blue lagoon good looks, appealing to everyone, is there for the experiance more then the game. Women 1. Susan Hawk - a goldmine, was cast the minute she walked in the door. 2. Helen Glover - cast because she represents what Susan is not, disciplined background, emotional character. 3. Ghandia Johnson - diva of the cast, should cause some trouble 4. Jerri Manthey - athletic, charming, overbearing. 5. Dolly Neely - attractive farm girl, eye candy with a good work ethic. 6. Stephenie Lagrossa - The All American girl, will kick the mens asses. 7. Shii Ann Huang - shrewd, could be a villian, a player. 8. Jessie Camacho - a policewoman who just happens to be one of the best looking women to ever apply, should be fun to watch. 9. Wanda Shirk - so gung ho about this adventure, hard not to love her. 10. Immunity # 1 - Koror wins TC # 1 - Ulong - Jolanda is voted out for her personality and trying to take the leadership role with so many strong males Immunity # 2 - Ulong wins TC # 2 - Koror - Shii Ann is voted out, strength is needed, it came down to her, or Jon/ Immunity # 3 - Ulong wins TC # 3 - Koror - Jon is voted out, Tom could not keep up with Rupert and Richard by himself in backpack challenge, they need to dump the dead weight. Immunity # 4 - Sumo at Sea - Ulong wins TC # 4 - Koror - Ian voted out, on outside of alliance Immunity # 5 - Double Tribal - Ulong wins TC # 5 - Ulong - Susan voted out, annoyed the tribe TC # 6 - Koror - Ulong gives Dolly immunity, Jessie is voted out in her place. Ramona Gray Reason: She attends an all-black university and states that she's never had any friends of any other race other than her own. Survivor will truly be a life-experience for her as it will force her to adapt to other races. 2. Rudy Boesch Reason: Retired navy SEAL still in physical shape. Being that he is the oldest, it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the younger crowd. 3. Kimmi Kappenberg Reason: Type A personality that lists sex as a hobby. First impression is that she's bit of an airhead, but she in fact graduated at the top of her class. Which impression will she portray to her tribemates? 4. Jessie Camacho Reason: Pageant girl turned tough deputy sheriff. 5. Lex Van den Berghe Reason: Rocker family man covered in tatoos. 6. John Raymond Reason: How will a pastor's morals and ethics fare within an adventure based on lying and manipulation? 7. Helen Glover Reason: Though older than many of the contestants an occupation in the navy makes this contestant a strong-willed and tough woman. Put her on a tribe with Rudy. How will these Navy-trained contestants interact with one another? 8. Ken Stafford Reason: His occupation as a police officer makes him more than able to dominate at the challenges. It'll be interesting to see the interaction between him and the deputy sheriff Jessie. Possible hero of this season. 9. Brian Heidik Reason: The required manipulation on Survivor should be no problem for this sharky used car salesman. 10. Christy Smith Reason: The first deaf Survivor contestant who wants to prove that she can do anything that a normal hearing person can. Has the potential to be the sentimental favorite of this season. 11. Alex Bell Reason: Surviving Survivor should be a piece of cake for this contestant who survived and overcame a serious drug and alcohol struggle. 12. Rupert Boneham Reason: This contestant's outdoor experiences make him built for this competition. 13. John Dalton Reason: Describing himself as amazing and smarter than the average person, this overly-confident and arrogant contestant is just asking for trouble. 14. Dolly Neely Reason: Naive country girl who lives a simple life on a farm. It'll be interesting to watch her adapt around many of the contestants who live a daily city-life. 15. Janu Tornell Reason: This contestant has overcome cancer and also has a family story to her Las Vegas occupation: showgirl dancing. 16. Cindy Hall Reason: Being that she is a zookeeper, and trains in the wilderness, it seems that Survivor was made for her. 17. Gary Hogeboom Reason: Former pro athlete with a lot of life experience. How will Survivor rank among these experiences? 18. Stephenie Lagrossa Reason: Contestant with the longest athlete resume than any other. With all these experiences in sports, she will prove to dominate in a lot of the physical challenges.
