The great American Sociological experiment is back with all new rednecks, religious freaks, morons and idiots willing to expose their peccadillos (amongst other things undoubtedly) for the world to see. Tonight's premiere is this family.. *Quote:* Wife Swap is back! A conservative etiquette teacher from Mississippi who firmly believes in structure and discipline swaps lives with a raucous stay-at-home mom from Massachusetts who doesn't believe in manners or any kind of rules or household duties. It felt at times though like I was watching Super Nanny (which I also prefer over Nanny 911) cause those kids were so bad! The etiquitte lady ended up not being as bad as I thought she would be. The boys seemed to like having some boundaries, and she was willing to ease up a little bit on her own family. I almost died when the mom tried to start a food fight in the restaurant. What was she thinking? I could not understand her line of thinking as much as the etiquitte mom. Who lets their children run wild and says that's "the Hagerty way." Good Lord lady - get a clue!

I did see that the other family had eased up. This was a very good episode. Didn't go how I expected it to at all.

Miss Lydia apparently drank the delusional kool aid and thinks she is Brooke Astor. After consulting the doyenne of etiquette, Amy Vanderbilt, I found no mention of GOOP or Burping Inside Yourself. Obviously two chapters that need to be added in the amended and updated version for the 21st century. In my day I was forced to go to deportment classes, which again demonstrates the length of abuse I suffered at the hands of my mother. And we only dressed for dinner on special occassions not while sitting in my suburban home in a middle class suburb in Tennesse. Of course when we were in our NY pied a tierre that was completely different and then I played with my good friends the Roosevelts, the Dukes etc... Miss Lydia's heart and some of her discipline is in the right place but come on... they are not the movers and shakers of elite society. In fact some of the movers and shakers of elite society in fact don't burp within or care about buttering each piece of bread!!! Good manners is one thing something tells me this woman wouldn't know the difference between a fish fork and one for oysters. Get over yourself!!! And I didn't realize Rosie O'Donnell married Pete Rose. The kids were cute and oddly much of their behavior is actually an attempt to please.. they seem more wanting to be accepted by matriarch than having geniune behavior problems. The head Goop Buster turned awfully quick...he seemed to have self awareness that even Nanny 911 would have admired. Clearly Mama Rosie is your classic pig, from the fat arm rolls to the sloppy house and the ill disciplined kid... this is what the Economist should of put on the cover calling for the Shaming of America. I am way more embarassed about that then the fact that the world knows we have poor people and our government bureaucracy is.............well, stupid. And Pete, well Pete needs to lose the gut and get some hair transplants. One minute he is supporting the gross behavior of the kids the next he is dressing like a clone and loving that he is sitting at a table eating something not from a box or drive thru window. Her behavior throwing plates, food, etc was disgraceful. Is that really being a fun parent or in fact being an immature idiot!!! Does Ted Kennedy know that these people live in Massachusets? I bet those kids would loot so fast your head would spin. No, wait, I mean find food. That meat man better keep his eye on them if a hurricane hits. Not one of the most dynamic of episodes. Apparently they scrapped the one with the nutbag from Oklahoma living with the gay couple from Seattle. That is still one I would like to see.

"Rosie O'Donnell married Pete Rose." Dead on! Don't feel alone. I too had a type of manner classes. It was at a local department store on Saturdays, I was around 12 and they trained us how to "be ladies." I don't recall the specifics, but I don't remember any talk of "Goops." Re the question as to whether the other family had changed. They showed them eating at the kitchen table (the laundry was off of it) and the mother commented they try to eat at least one meal at the table. We weren't shown much more than that. I'm sorry, but I would NEVER have a food fight. How nasty is that? No thanks, keep the food off my body and out of my hair, if that means I have a stick up my butt, then so be it.

It seemed like they wanted to make the dad out to be overbearing on that, but how many teen-agers have access to their own door in and out of their room? If I found the door cracked open at times I might wonder if he was sneaking out...or having someone else sneak in. Granted, he's a well behaved dork, but still. And did that little alcove with that locked door in it look like it was from a totally different house to anyone else? It looked so shabby and "laundry porch at the farmhouse" there, and the rest of the house was all hoity-toity.

I liked how the husbands actually stood up for the visiting wives when they all got together.They both took away what they needed from the two weeks. At least both woman did actually change the hosues for the better when they returned home.
