Posts: 5581 (09/24/08 11:54 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	ACE GORDON 27, Jewelry Sales & Photographer Just from his personality and interview, Ace strikes me as the type of guy who will WANT to be the leader, but probably won't get it, and will constantly be scheming to try and take over the leadership position, a la Boston Rob. I can see him competing with a few of the younger guys as a flirt, but I can also see him forming a buddy relationship like so many of the men who've played Big Brother. ROBERT "BOB" CROWLEY 58, Physics Teacher Being one of the few older players in this season could be a challenge for Bob, but he does seem to have some experience and muscle to go along with his intelligence. He could easily be the next Yau-Man, or simply an early boot. It's hard to tell with him. I don't think he'll be very cutthroat though, and he'll basically stick with anyone who'll align with him and follow the crowd. CHARLIE HERSCHEL 29, Lawyer I don't know why, but it's like each season they're trying to find a MORE blatant gay stereotype than the season before it. Charlie is the token gay guy of the season, which does help him out a lot, because he has said he's athletic, but not enough to make himself look like a threat. So he's got the body, and his personality is more likely to gain favor with the women of his tribe. He's less likely to offend and more likely to be able to slide under-the-radar. Plus, he's a lawyer, which definitely says something about his ability to talk to people. CORINNE KAPLAN 29, Pharmaceutical Sales Corinne describes herself as a bitch, but when it comes to Survivor, sometimes the women that do the best are the ones who are able to stand up for themselves and speak their minds. To quote Tina Fey, "Bitches get things done." Also, I can see Corinne being bitchy, but able to check herself enough so that she doesn't cross the line. This could make her a very dangerous player in the game. CRYSTAL COX 29, Former Olympic Athlete Crystal is strong and will be a force to be reckoned with, which I think puts her in a bad spot early on. The women that tend to get far in the game are the ones that are semi-strong and able to stay under the radar for a good portion of the game. Due to her size and her athletic ability, I don't think Crystal will be able to hide out. She does know that she needs to try and be low-key, but I don't see it helping her all that much. DAN KAY 32, Lawyer As a lawyer, Dan has an advantage of being good with his words, and he seems physically capable enough to handle himself in challenges. He's got the type of body that men can really succeed with in Survivor, muscular, but not massive from doing nothing but working out. Dan also has the perfect age for this season, just old enough to be able to work with and understand the older players, and young enough to work well with the younger players. DANNY "G.C." BROWN 26, Maintenance Man After Dreamz, it's hard to think that a formerly homeless would have any chance in this game, but Danny seems to be very different from Dreamz. For one, Danny has a real job, as opposed to "Cheerleading Coach," and thus is more likely to be able to think rationally. He seems like a very friendly person who has a broad range of skills as opposed to just playing sports as well. However, he says he dislikes dishonest people, which leads me to believe he'll have a hard time with the strategic aspect of the game. GILLIAN LARSON 61, Retired Nurse When you have the oldest woman in the cast, you've gotta look at her right from the start and assume she's not going to win the game. If her tribe loses pre-merge challenges, she's likely going to be voted out either for not fitting in, or for being a physical liability. If she makes it to the merge, she'll likely be voted out before the finals because she can't win the end challenges and she'll be seen as too big of a jury threat. So I'm not betting a lot on Gillian. JACQUIE BERG 25, Medical Sales Right off the bat, Jacquie strikes me as one of the women we're going to want to watch in this game. Nothing really stands out about her, which is exactly why she's so high on my radar at this point. It's the unassuming women that really don't stand out and have a decent level of athleticism that do well in this game. It's like Amanda, only Jacquie seems to have a little more maturity, and much like Danny, she has a real job as opposed to being a former beauty queen turned nature guide. JESSICA "SUGAR" KIPER 29, Pin-Up Model Oh c'mon. They're just trying to capitalize on the success of Courtney Y. with this one. And just like I called for Courtney Y., I'm predicting a poor showing for Jessica as well. She just doesn't strike me as all that intelligent, probably because she goes by the nickname "Sugar". And on top of that, she's an actress that thinks it's best she tells people she's a model so that they don't think she's a liar. Much like with Courtney, she's only going to survive if she gets put with several other weaklings on a tribe with the strongest players. KELLY CZARNECKI 22, Retail Sales Kelly is the season's youngest woman, and as a result, I can see her doing well enough to make it to the merge, and possibly the endgame, but not well enough to win. She seems like a younger, less athletic version of Jacquie, and in fact reminds me of China's Jaime in that she seems to overestimate herself. There's just not a whole lot to say about her other than she plans on trying to typical "flirt with the guys and see what happens" strategy. KEN HUONG 22, Professional Gamer Ken is probably going to be an early boot, because compared to pretty much every other guy in the game, aside from Bob, Ken is going to be looked at as a weakling. With a bunch of young guys in a cast like this, the women are going to be relatively safe, but much like in high school, I think the scrawny guy will be picked on a kicked out early, especially if he shows signs of being a strategic threat. MARCUS LEHMAN 28, Doctor Marcus, as much as it pains me to say it, is going to be a guy to watch in this season. He's a doctor, which means he has intelligence. He seems to be physically fit enough to at least be a contender in challenges. And he's the kind of guy who just seems to have that kind of hypnotizing effect on people. After seeing him in the fucking ads for so long, this is clear. He fits the bill to potentially win, and that's all I can say right now. MATTY WHITMORE 29, Personal Trainer Matty strikes me as being somewhat of a douchebag who tries to be a nice guy, kinda like Dr. Sean from season 1. He's strong, but even at age 29, he could very well be emotionally immature due to the fact that he was a party boy for so long, riding on the trust fund he got from his grandparents. He seems fit enough to last at least until the late merge, but he's probably going to have a hard time in this game. MICHELLE CHASE 24, Music Producer Michelle is the girl that when I looked at the bios, I said to myself, she's the most likely female winner. She's like a combination of Amanda's naïveté and Parvati in general. I don't know why, but she just gives me this Amanda vibe, but she's not as stupid as Amanda is. Her biggest fault is the whole "married and divorced by age 19" thing, which leads me to believe she makes poor decisions with some regularity. So while she's not as high on my winner list anymore, I still think she'll be one to watch. PALOMA SOTO-CASTILLO 24, Student And now we come to the hottest girl of the season. Paloma, just from everything we've seen of her, seems like she's being set up as the season's sweetheart. She's a nice person who has traveled the world and she just wants to win so she can do good things. As a result, she'll either end up not being taken seriously, or worse, she'll be voted out before the end for being too much of a threat. I think Paloma has a lot to overcome if she's to stand any chance at winning this game. RANDY BAILEY 49, Wedding Videographer Honestly, Randy seems like an asshole, the kind of person who I'd never want to be around. And in addition to this, I think the odds are in favor of Randy being an early target by some of the people he offends. However, I think Randy will wind up being like Jean-Robert in that he's an asshole and there will always be a core group that wants him gone, but he'll be kept around for being beneficial in challenges. He just looks like a workhorse kinda guy. SUSIE SMITH 47, Hairdresser Gillian may be the oldest woman, but I think Susie is going to have the biggest target on her back. Because people like little old ladies, and if they have a choice between the two, I think there's little benefit to keeping Susie over Gillian. Susie seems like she's going to have the potential to be very annoying to the other members of her tribe, and she doesn't seem all that physically fit either. Posts: 5681 (09/29/08 10:31 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	FANG TRIBE CRYSTAL It seems as though the tribe has divided into two sides with the young on one side and the old on the other, with Crystal falling within the majority. In addition to that, Crystal seems like the most likely of the young group to be able to bridge the gap and work with the old. Still, this tribe is really not very strategic and seems to work at random, even targeting a strong tribe member just because he MIGHT have an immunity idol, so nothing is for sure on this tribe. DAN Dan already proved in this past episode that he's on the outs with his tribe. If they were willing to discuss booting him over the mere POSSIBILITY of him having an idol shows that he doesn't have a solid in with the majority alliance. According to several post-game interviews, Dan, Susie, Randy, and Gillian were together, and with Gillian out, that puts Dan in the minority. He's strong enough that it wouldn't be smart to boot him, but the majority is suspicious of him, and that's never a good thing. GC He was put up as a leader, which shows that his tribe has a certain level of respect for him, but he did a poor job. Still, he's strong enough in challenges that he should be safe for a while, and he has buffer in his alliance in case something gets shaken up. Fang really seems to be up in the air in terms of anything at the moment though, so pretty much anyone could be the next to go. GILLIAN Gillian tried her hardest to make herself noticed as at least doing some work, but I think it backfired, because by putting herself so far out there, that made her more memorable when it came time for the voting. Had she stayed in the shadows a little bit, I think she could've gotten herself overlooked as a weak link, especially since a lot of her tribe struggled in the challenges. She was weak though, and as a result, there was little she could do. KEN Ken is one of the weakest members of the tribe, and as a result, I can see him easily being targeted by the minority alliance, or in the event that he winds up in a bad position after a swap. Even now, he could easily be dropped as a weak link by his own alliance, especially due to his early associations with Michelle. Overall, I think Ken's odds are just as crazy as anyone else on this tribe, but he's in danger for the rest of the pre-merge game. MATTY If anyone on Fang is safe, it's Matty. He's the only person I can't think of a decent reason as to why he would be voted out at this point. He's currently in the youth majority, but he's not really viewed as a leader, despite having been big in pushing for both of the votes thus far. He's also physical enough that he's a necessity for the tribe to survive early on. Of anyone on Fang, I think Matty is the most likely to make the merge and the endgame. MICHELLE I can't believe how extremely off I was about Michelle. I thought she'd be another Amanda, and while she was one of the more physically strong members of her tribe, she didn't have the personality to pull it off. She willingly allowed herself to be outcast while the old woman who should've been an easy first boot integrated herself within the tribe. As a result, Michelle's poor attitude led to her elimination, but in the long run, it was probably a good move because of how petit Michelle was, plus the fact that she would've been likely to jump ship. RANDY Randy was another surprise in that he's viewed as much weaker by his tribe than I thought he'd be. On the plus side, despite being weaker, Randy has at least been seen as trying to put himself in the Fang Tribe power core. He also managed to create a fishing hook from his own glasses. Still, Randy's attitude thus far has been either negative in describing his tribe, or non-committal in terms of planning with the majority alliance. Like pretty much everyone else, he could be the next target. SUSIE With Gillian gone, Susie has become the weakest player on the tribe, and despite the fact that she seemed to have an early connection with Crystal, she's still going to be in some trouble. The best move Susie can try at this point is to lay low and hope someone else shoot him or herself in the foot like Michelle did. Aside from that, she needs to really work to prove herself around camp like Randy has done, because at this point, I'd say he's the most likely person to be voted out instead of her. KOTA TRIBE ACE I was right it seems, at least a little bit, in that he's probably going to be dueling for power with Marcus for quite a while. He seems to have irritated his tribe early on with his desire to take control, and this could hurt him, because if he wants to survive, he needs to take out the onion alliance, and to do that, he was essentially need the support of everyone outside of that alliance, which he doesn't seem to have right now. BOB Bob is definitely the guy that everyone is going to love on his tribe, and as a result, they won't let him near the finals. He's in the middle of pretty much everyone and everyone has kind words to say about him, especially the women of the tribe. And as he proved during the initial immunity challenge, he's not going to be a physical liability to the tribe. So overall, I'd say Bob is in a good position for now, but he's going to have a choice to make when it comes to the onion alliance and the rest of his tribe. CHARLIE I stand by my pre-show statement that Charlie is in a good position. He's a smart enough player to have gotten into a solid two-person alliance early, and from there, he formed a larger alliance by bringing in Corinne and Jacquie. He's also physical enough to be good for the tribe, but not enough to really be targeted as any sort of threat down the road. I think his downfall is going to be Marcus though. While his alliance with the girls is strategic, I think Charlie is just attracted to Marcus, which could definitely be his downfall. CORINNE As I mentioned last week, the bitchier girls like Corinne are the ones that are able to check their emotions at the door and make it far in the game. Corinne was helpful in the challenges and was one of the first girls to the top of the hill. She's viewed as the smartest girl on Kota, which could be both a benefit and a hindrance to her. It puts a target on her back, but it also lets players know that she's rational and could be a very reliable ally. JACQUIE The third member of the onion alliance, Jacquie was brought up early on as being someone who Marcus would want to work with, and she seems physical enough to pull her weight in the tribe. She's very likely to fly under-the-radar for a good portion of the game just due to her seemingly quiet nature. Also, if shit hits the fan within her alliance, she's also the least likely to be targeted, at least right off the bat. KELLY We know absolutely nothing about Kelly due to the fact that the editors decided she wasn't important at all. She, like Corinne, was one of the few members of Kota that didn't really seem to require any sort of help getting up the hill, and she's been part of the reason Kota is undefeated through three challenges. Odds are that she, like Sugar, is part of Ace's clique, which means her fate in the game really hinges on Paloma and Bob, and Paloma's not very solid with Ace at all. MARCUS He's definitely in the best position in the game right now. Charlie's basically chopping at the bit for a chance to hop into bed with him, Corinne and Jacquie love him, and he's still managing to fly under-the-radar. He's physically strong and mentally intelligent, which is a good combination, especially if no one else in the tribe seems to notice it. Until a swap, Marcus is in a very good position within his tribe, but the real challenge will come when he has to deal with the older players of Fang. PALOMA Paloma has already been singled out as the weakest member of the tribe, having been chosen to sit out of the second immunity challenge. In addition to that, she was the main person to fall behind during the initial hill climb. She dislikes Ace, which means that her odds if working with him are low. This rivalry might make it easier for a suggestion of her boot to be carried out, especially since the onion only needs to eliminate two out of the five remaining members of the tribe to take complete control. SUGAR Sugar was the girl Ace chose first during the tribe pick 'em, and since then, she seems to be his closest ally. This puts a large target on Sugar's back, because much like with Mary last season, when one alliance wants to boot someone, but that person is vital to the strength of the tribe, they boot the closest ally. Sugar's not really useful to the tribe, as she was picked as a puzzle solver, rather than a runner, during the first challenge. So it seems like Sugar is the most in peril from her tribe. SURVIVOR: GABON RANKINGS FOR WEEK ONE 1. Marcus 2. Charlie 3. Jacquie 4. Matty 5. Corinne 6. Bob 7. Crystal 8. Kelly 9. GC 10. Ace 11. Dan 12. Ken 13. Paloma 14. Sugar 15. Randy 16. Posts: 5780 (10/08/08 11:49 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	FANG TRIBE CRYSTAL Well, we barely saw the tribe, but from what we did see, she doesn't seem to be a target by either side, and she was very strong and helpful in the immunity challenges. Right now, there's not a whole lot to say about Crystal's position in the game. DAN Again, like Crystal, there's not a whole lot to say about Matty because we didn't see much of him in the episode. However, he was the tribe's rock during the reward challenge for the episode, so maybe his position in the tribe has improved since the last episode. GC He's definitely been called out by Randy, and despite the weakness of Ken, GC is becoming more and more likely of a boot target in this game. He's causing divisions in the tribe and he's not being helpful in the challenges. Right now, his fate seems to rest in the hands of Matty, who's the Fang swing vote. KEN Ken may not be the strongest guy around, but he really proved himself this episode by outdoing the physics teacher in a mental competition. By showing that he has a real purpose in the challenges, Ken is no longer the same liability that Gillian tried to paint him as last episode. He's in a decent position now, having survived the early portion of the game. MATTY Matty was the anchor in the immunity challenge and competed in 2/3 of the rounds in the first challenge. As a result, he's proven himself as a strong player, but he's low-key enough that he'll be able to stay out of the spotlight. He's even a swing vote between the two halves of the tribe and he's not blatantly out there about it. He's like Dan from BB10. RANDY Up until this point, Randy has been keeping his head down and avoiding the drama on his tribe, but now he's been called out by GC, and that puts him in the spotlight. His longevity in the game depends on Matty though, and being viewed as the leader of one faction is bad if his faction loses out. SUSIE Had Fang lost immunity, Susie probably would've been voted out, because she essentially lost the major lead that Crystal earned her tribe in the challenge. She's out of shape and weak, and that's a tribe that can't afford losses at this point. KOTA TRIBE ACE He survived this week, and I'm confident that he'll survive the next week, but he's too cocky for his own good. His attempts at leadership are hurting him more than they're helping him. He's a challenge asset to his tribe at the moment, but that just means he's more likely to be targeted early in the merge, or just before it. BOB Bob was basically given the fifth spot in the onion alliance this week, and due to the split between Sugace and Keloma, there was really no smart option he could take other than joining the onions. He's still a nice guy and no one even criticized him for losing them the immunity challenge, so that looks good for him. CHARLIE At this point, he still seems like just a follower for Marcus and Corinne, which could still be good for him, because during the tribal portion of the game, there's no real reason to put yourself out there as a strategic threat. That's not going to matter as much to the jury, who only really cares about the post-merge situation. Still, if he plays follower after the merge, then Charlie's going to be in some trouble. CORINNE Corinne made a major error this episode by telling Bob that she has a strong foursome, but there wasn't a whole lot Bob could do about it at that point. Still, Corinne's big mouth may hurt her in the game when it comes to keeping plans secret, and she much overestimate her own strategic prowess. Still, at the moment, she's looking good. JACQUIE Her alliance now basically has all the power, and as long as she flies under-the-radar, she's safe, because it's going to be the more prominent members of her alliance that are targeted first. As with Charlie, this gameplay is good early on, but she'll need to start making moves once the merge hits. KELLY Well, I was completely wrong about her being in Ace's harem, given that she can't stand the guy. Kelly's basically fucked at this point because she was the lone dissenting vote, and the fact that the onion voted Paloma instead of Ace or Sugar tells me that they're more concerned with keeping threats neutralized and keeping the tribe in a false state of cohesion. As such, Kelly will need to go next to avoid her jumping ship. MARCUS I think he played very smart, playing up to Ace as his best friend and keeping his options open in case the onion doesn't quite work out. Also, while Corinne was running her mouth (oh God, not me too), Marcus was sitting back and letting her paint herself as the leader with the target on her back. PALOMA She got played by Ace, and she simply wasn't strong enough to stick around. She did her best to keep herself in the game, but I think Ace played very shrewdly by putting her in the challenge and proving her weakness while keeping Sugar out of the spotlight. There wasn't a whole lot Paloma could do, short of sucking up to Ace and keeping herself in the good graces of those in power. SUGAR Of all the women in the game, she was the one I thought would be the LEAST likely to ever find the hidden immunity idol. Gillian and Susie are older and weak, but they'd be doing everything they could. And the other girls all seem slightly athletic. Sugar really surprised me. She's paired up with Ace, but it seems she's safe, at least for now, and thanks to the idol, she can go very far in this game. SURVIVOR: GABON RANKINGS FOR WEEK TWO 1. Marcus 2. Jacquie 3. Charlie 4.
