this show is as big of a joke as BIG BROTHER but why all the acclaim? thank god THE MOLE is finally coming back and we can have another reality show that
provides as much mental stimulation as all the plotting on Survivor

The Mole is more mentally stimulating, Survivor is more intriguing and intelligent from a sociological standpoint(not to mention more entertaining), Big Brother is more addicitng. Still crazy about the race though |

It's way more entertaining than the other reality shows. I have no desire to rewatch Survivor, but I've seen the old seasons of TAR countless times.

It's tough to analyze an edit because you don't have the raw footage. Was so-and-so really the way they're portrayed or not is something you can't answer watching an episode. I like TAR better for two reasons. One, the background. With TAR you have every possible type of scenery. Survivor, well, I hope you like the beach because that's all you're getting from season to season. (I think that's why I liked Survivor: China as much as I did - it was a departure.) Two, the range of human interaction is greater. You don't just have people who don't know one another competing against one another. You also have people on the same team dealing with each other under stress, and people under stress dealing with third parties (taxi drivers, Ferns etc.) There's other reasons why people might prefer TAR. TAR is an action show - people are constantly doing something. Survivor is a lot of talking broken up with a few challenges. I find Survivor much more predictable than TAR. Whether it's editing or just the nature of the show, I find it's a lot harder to predict who's going in TAR than in Survivor. Answer this question: if you could be on one of the two shows, which would you want to be on? I'd pick TAR in a heartbeat since it looks like such a great experience. People who get Philiminated look genuinely upset to be going because it's so much fun. Compare that to Survivor and the number of people who quit because of how miserable it is. Some people just don't like watching others be miserable. The biggest knocks against TAR are bunching and non-eliminations. If you don't like those, you won't like TAR. If you can handle those, it's a great show with a lot of very viewer-friendly features compared with Survivor. |
