Too bad, however, that while Idol shows have popped up on all six inhabited continents of the world and continues to be the biggest talent search in the world, Pop Idol only lasted two seasons and will likely never be revived, and has instead been replaced by fucking Leona Lewis and the X Factor.
Without Will's success, there would be no American/Canadian/Australian/Aby-bloody-sinian Idol. Kelly Clarkson would still be waitressing. Jennifer Hudson would still be singing on that damn cruise ship. Carrie Underwood would still be on that damn farm. Clay Aiken would have gone on The Amazing Race and continued his work with autistic children. And they wouldn't have spun off a show off Pop Idol, and Leona Lewis would still be lurking behind the scenes. And were it not in part for Will, we wouldn't have a forum like this.
Of course, Will can also be blamed in part for sowing the seeds that begat monstrosities like William Hung, Keith Beukelaer, Tamika Bush, Constantine Maroulis, Carly Smithson, David Cook, Rhonetta, and God forbid, Rodesia Eaves.
Nonetheless, I feel that Will Young does not get the credit that he deserves. And it is high time that he did.
