I don't know about that, but Leslie sure gave him a big help.
Baseball? During football season? |

The editing is building up to Jean-Robert flipping on Aaron post-swap.
Then JR getting toasted on the merge. That should be fun to watch. |

In some defense, I don't remember a season this wet. To be this wet and never get dry (except apparently at tribal council), is exceptionally miserable.
And they have to start worrying about their feet. Rather horrible things start to happen when people's feet never dry out. What I want to know is did they
delibarately put a tribe on low ground? I suppose with all the bamboo, they figured everyone could build a high platform?
It really does feel as though they went out looking for the categories of people they've cast before and so they've cast the lite version. |

Playoffs - Just as spoiled...The Curse of the Giambino still holds....watchout for the LAA.
Survivor - Ya think they'd learn by now not to build a shelter in a low lying area....fireplaces too. I've seen a Troop of Tenderfoot Scouts able to build a better camp than that. |

It's true it isn't a very good camp, but I am not sure that they had any other choice.
The area looks to be very forested, few clear areas near the water. Maybe MB requires them to stay by the water, so they were unable to find a clear, higher space? Dave seems to be relatively savvy, I don't think he would have chosen that bad a spot unless he had no choice. It is indeed terrible! |

I'm still liking Courtney - despite her brashness, she's still socially and strategically aware enough to realize that Aaron/JR spatting was a stupid
thing to do in front of Jaime

Chicken tryed to get them to build the shelter on that higher platform but they didnt and voted him off.

The tribe that sucks:
DAVE: I understand that if he hadn't turned into the bossy leader, these idiots would not be able to get their crap together and they would starve to death. I realize this. However, Ashley actually had him assessed pretty well. He's an arrogant, condescending blowhard in a tribe of dumb young people that are going to value social bonds over any useful skills. While voting Ashley out first was smarter (because, you know, he is actually strong and useful) he's still not for long. He will probably be going to Loser Lodge and will be subjected to a gloating Ashley very soon unless he's saved by a switcheroo of some kind, because while he has some great skills, he's not on the tribe where that's going to be appreciated. JAIME: Watch closely. While Dave is the "leader" (read: human sacrifice), Jaime is the one that seems to be running the show on this tribe. She's the one driving the strategy. She's the one that's helping decide the vote. She's the one sitting quietly and listening to the other tribe fight. She's the link, I think, between Sherea and the two young guys that don't talk. She's the one who instigating Ashley into airing the group's grievances with Dave. She's the one to watch, I think. PEIH-GEE: I can't help but think that she'd have been better off if she'd been placed on the other tribe, personality-wise, although I must admit, she's off the radar for now. SHEREA: I don't see her as a major player. She's more vocal than Erik and Frosti, but I don't see any game. FROSTI: All we know about him is that he has some athletic ability. ERIK: Who? The tribe that mostly doesn't suck: JEAN-ROBERT: Although I think that his reverse psychology ploy is interesting, the fact of the matter is that he most likely would not be lasting long in this game if not for the fact that the other tribe appears to be in a tailspin. Not as good of a player as he thinks he is. LESLIE: Jaime (who seems reasonably perceptive) seemed to view her as the weak link in the tribe, and she's been sick, and she seems to not have any real alliances (aside from Todd, who has other plans). This does not bode well for her. I was pleasantly surprised that her first choice for an alliance was the gay Mormon, which was... not what I would have expected from Church Lady. JAMES: He's big and strong. He should be cautious if there's a switch, and he's going to need to do well post-merge to last long. COURTNEY: Well, she's entertaining, I'll give her that. TODD: I like his alliance... himself, a loyal partner, and a human shield he can duck behind. This combo (with a succession of assorted shields) worked very well for Vecepia. Smart guy. Given that the other tribe is imploding and I've seen no indication of tight alliances on his tribe, if he plays his cards right he's in an excellent position. AMANDA: She's made a good alliance to start with, and she appears to have a brain. AARON: He's put himself out there as a leader, and clearly Todd and Amanda are willing to let him be the target over him. It could pay off well if it helps him to the end, but it might backfire as well. DENISE: She's clearly tough, but I have no clue where she stands on the tribe in terms of alliances or bonds with her tribemates. |

So I wonder if Todd has read the Sunsawed's thread--the brilliant fox/bear/goat/bunny thread. it's been awhile since this strategy was really in play,
but this might it.
Todd obviously thinks he's the fox. Aaron is the goat. Amanda is the bear. And Leslie invited herself in as bunny. |

With the change to an F3, you now need to either pull 2 followers along with you (Earl, Yul) or try to take a partner and a goat to the F3 and try to make it a showdown. With actual applicants back in the game, the second option seems more realistic. |

Sorry...I'm thinking Todd's a bit over the top the blatant $$MM winner stuff last time, and declaring himself "VERY smart". If there is an
actual Fox in this group I'd say Amanda. I'm not so sure she is as tight with Todd as he thinks. With Leslie appraoching Todd it appears he's
more of a leader than he'd like to be.

When Rob was leading Matt/Butch on we saw that they were both clueless and that he was keeping his options open. With Todd/Leslie, we have Todd bashing her gameplay, calling her an idiot for trusting him. Someone put their trust in him and he immediately went to backstab them. |

Yeah, we didn't even get Todd saying "She's a nice lady but..." or "I feel kinda bad about it but...", and they made a point of
showing us that Aaron was pulled into the alliance so Todd and Amanda could use him and then drop him. When Amanda was first shown, she says something about
Todd is sneaky or devious (I forget the word she used), so I think they're telling us she knows Todd is not her BFF.
I didn't get the impression Leslie gave him her clue because she thought he was the leader, but because she thought he was clever. (And, unconsciously, perhaps he reminds her of the gay Mormon son she never had.) Presumably she thought she was making some sort of alliance with a peer, not just flat out giving up the clue to her competition? I don't know where the editing of the animals goes. In my mind it is shorthand for the story arcs. This is what I have so far: panda - distraction. Jean-Robert monkey - commentary/mood, so far just on the general happenings (sad wet monkey, happy playing monkey, etc). if the monkey is associated with a particular person or action, I think it will mean something snake - associated with Ashley, which seems odd, since she was very straight-forward, not twisty or slithering at all cormorant - sometimes a bird is just a bird, with a literal foreshadowing of cormorant fishing as Fei Long returned to their camp with fishing gear dead bloated frog - Zhan Hu dragonfly - Fei Long. as I was watching the episode, I was thinking dragonflies are a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. However, I double-checked, and it turns out that is Japanese. In China, they more typically represent something that is fragile and fleeting. (Anybody from either of those cultures, feel free to confirm or deny.) If I were just watching, I would think they're setting up Fei Long for a fall. With the advantage of the boot spoilers, I'm inclined to think the editors had the same mistaken idea I did. (We do have the switch and the merge coming up, so Fei Long could shatter as a tribe, but individual members still make their way far in the game through separate paths.) |

People say it's similar to Rob C's edit from Amazon, but one thing is really, really sticking out in comparison: Todd is a hell of a lot meaner.Todd's confessionals are too smug, and they have lowered my opinion of him, but he doesn't seem all that mean (phony, overinvested in the game, maybe). Wasn't it Rob who was repeatedly insulting people behind their backs in confessionals, who was eating food from a reward (even the crumbs) before the outcasts of the tribe could come back to get any, who gave a bitter speech when he was on the jury, etc.? He seemed to have a strong dislike for some people that went beyond a strategic game, people like Dave. He did his best to suck up to the cool kids, while secretly envying/hating them, yet he also hated the outcasts and treated them like fools. It was very unpleasant. Rob also liked to insult the looks of some people on his team, which Todd has not done, yet. I'm giving a wait and see approach because the season has barely started. For all I know he will be at Cesterino levels soon. He said he couldn't believe she would tell him she found a clue for an immunity idol. Then he said if she got sick and had to leave the game, leaving him as the one who knew about the immunity idol, that would be good for him, which wasn't a nice thing to say, but fairly benign. She told him about the clue to try to help herself out, and did so strategically, not because they're great friends; if it was a backstab, it is a strategic one, and one she essentially brought it on herself. What I wonder is who will be the leaders of Zhan Hu now, still Dave, or will we start to see the real leaders of the team? Do they have a real leader?

Zhan will probably start falling apart at the seams. Peih-Gee has already stepped up but people like Sherea are just difficult to handle. I wouldn't be suprised if Erik or Jamie start to take more of a leader role, if they don't start shacking up. Btw, how the hell do I quote with this new Yuku crap? |

I still can't do anything beyond hitting the quotation marks.
Jaime, Sherea, and Erik seem to be the closest people left on the tribe. Will they continue to let Dave do whatever he wants, even if that means losing more challenges? They seem to be one of those teams who are happy to hide behind a person even if that person takes them to their doom. Will we finally see anything of Denise in this episode? |
