Is there some unwritten or written rule that SNL can have no more than 3 regular female cast members and 1 featured female cast member? This seems like a good year to add 3 females... 2 at a minimum.

Michael is in his early 20s, and I'm sure will be pal'in around with Andy & Keenan all week. There will probably be an Olympics skit (swimming related, gymnastic-China age scandal, maybe a "cougar" athlete or swimming sketch in light of Dara Tores) an SNL short, something involving how Michael has a bunch of girl fans, and perhaps a skit involving Lil' Wayne because his music is Phelps' pre-swim itunes pick. The rest of it will be political campaign stuff....

I do agree that about 98% of athletes do a crappy job hosting, and I think Phelps may do poorly even for an athlete, but this is on NBC, and he was NBC's big story of the Olympics, so it's not terribly surprising. If nothing else it will be fun to laugh at how badly he does.

Ugh, Michael Phelps hosting? Brings back horrifying memories of Nancy Kerrigan hosting, and some football player hosting. Horrible, horrible memories. Didn't Michael Jordan do a trainwreck of a hosting job too? They should leave the hosting to actors, cut out athletes all together.

Mild disagreeance.

Not to go all political thread here, but I think as soon as they see an opportunity to take a shot at either candidate, they take it.

Of course they lean left -- this is live from NYC, after all -- but I bet they've already got a wealth of material to to bash Obama.

What's going to be more interesting to see is how, or even if, they can find a way to bash McCain.

I've heard Amy is trying to pull a Tina and bounce for another NBC sitcom (with the indian guy from human giant).

This show is thin on funny females as is...losing Amy would be too much for me!

SNL is now back for its 29th season. Post any info such as new hosts, castmembers, or funny quotes from this season or anyother (Tell me there is already a thread about this)

So far I heard that they redid the whole set to look like grand central station and got a new opening theme thats brighter then the past couple of seasons dark and gloomy one.

I hope this season is better then the last two. Any news on castmembers?
