This generalization of all caucasian characters as "white" while demanding recognition of the "black" characters' ethnicity is really irritating.

Well they've also killed 5 white young females (Libby, Shannon, the girl who got buried don't remember her name, Claire and Alex).

Um.... Nikki and Alex aren't white, the actress who plays Libby turns 40 this year and Claire might not be dead yet.

So, they've killed one white young female for sure....(and 3 hispanic girls including Ana Lucia now that you bring it up!)

The notion that they are "killing" black people in insane. LOST has had so many prominent black characters, much more than the average television show and instead of praising it for it's ethnic diversity, people are complaining that they killed a couple of black characters? Then Miss Klugh gets brought back only to be killed off -- I believe I read that she wanted this herself.

They made a semi-big deal about the actress playing Naomi being hired as part of the regular cast, and then they kill her off and replace her with 3 white people -- my two problems with this statement are that, one, Charlotte, Miles, and the chopper pilot are all not...

I'd rather not dwell on this, to be honest. I've loved MP in everything he's done (including LOST and Oz), and I'd rather not dwell on the comments he made leaving the show.

Yeah how did he abandon Walt? He's DEAD. He died trying to help people. Is THAT stereotype? I certainly hope not. Good grief if you wanted to you could find stereotypes in all the characters. It's just asinine to do so here too. HP complained that while Michael tried to disarm the bomb none of the characters he betrayed knew that (only Jin who didn't have a problem with him at that point and Desmond did). Hello! So if they knew Michael tried to help them that would be OK but...

Ok first of all to fit stereotype, Walt would be the fatherless child raised by the baby mama.

Have you watched since season one? Michael never abandoned Walt. He let his bitch ex-gf guilt trip into allowing her to take Walt cuz her man had so much money and could raise him better. Then he changed his mind about letting her keep Walt and...

Well, the one thing I will say is… the five 'untouchable' characters on this show are all white... Ben, Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Locke. Oh and don't give me that, Locke was in the coffin stuff. We knows he'll get plenty of screen time dead or alive.

Holy shit, Beef, I gave you way more credit than this. Those are stereotypes of black people? Maybe to people like you. Maybe the problem is that you're focusing on the "black" part rather than the "person" part. I've never seen so many people miss the forest for the trees. It's one of the most ethnically diverse casts ever for a show where that wasn't the point, and still now we have to quibble over whether the black characters are being singled out....

It's too bad people are offended, but this is a legitimate point. As someone pointed out, this isn't new. We have talked about the short life expectancy of Black characters on Lost. As for the characters themselves, Eko was a drug dealer, Rose is a strong, spiritual older woman, Michael is a father who abandoned his kid, and Walt is the fatherless child being raised by his grandmother. All of these are stereotypes of Blacks prevalent in media.

I didn't bitch about it. I just said I was surprised he mentioned race in regards to Michael being written off. Seems HP would figure out what was in store for him. He was acting out what WE saw and I knew he couldn't die off-island because of unfinished business/redemption so just wondering why it did not occur to him that once his character was redeemed, he would die.

My first thought when CS appeared/spoke to Michael saying "you can go now" was CS somehow was going to transport Michael to a safe place.. Whether it was on the island or to the mainland.. Now that I read HP interview I guess he really is dead.. I was hoping he would be reunited with Walt..

I didn't see a Michael thread. If there already is one, feel free to "locke" this one. I think the now most interesting character on the show deserves his own thread. No spoilers here please. Feel free to speculate all you want.

I think Michael knows FauxHenry Gale. I think he was either the Other who captured Michael, or the one that Michael followed back to the Others' camp. Anyway, me thinks they definitely met before last night and FauxHenry knew that Michael...
