We know there are at least three major sections of plane that hit the island; the tail section, the fuselage, and the cockpit.

Based on dialogue from that scene (Ben telling Goodwin he could be there in an hour if he runs), the closer smoke is the tail section, despite the appearance that the smoke is coming from the shore and... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ Dark Territory was where Daniele led the group including Arzt to the Black Rock to get the dynamite.  It was where Arzt became chunky red mist.<br>

The Beechcraft was the place Boone &amp; Locke found the small airplane in the cliff that had the virgin Mary statues filled with heroin.  It's where Boone fell to his impending death.  It's the same place Eko took Charlie &amp; Eko found his brother's body &amp; Charlie hooked up with the drugs. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ It is a well established fact in tv land that computer generated geographic features can be traversed in one tenth the time it takes in real life, and that fictional locations have a funny habit of moving themselves around from time to time.  And, the location scouts and special effects people generally have more clout than the continuity and consistency police.<br>

			<description><![CDATA[ That map Neeba links to is probably the best, if not to scale then certainly to placement and orientation. I had forgotten that the tailies were mobile. On this map, Hydra would have been exposed to the raft survivors, but they made most of that journey at night, and to the tailies, but since we don't know the layout of that side of the island there's no reason they have to be exactly right there. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ If there are several hatches on the island there could always be multiple Mysteria Lanes, perhaps originally support facilities for the different stations, on the island.  Originally it might have made sense to rotate teams in and out of the hatches from people living above ground to recover from their stays underground. ]]></description>

mysteria lane appears to be in the extinct caldera of the volcano that formed this island.  it is likely to be more toward the center of the island than it is on the edge. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ That map from Blackrock doesn't seem to match up with what we saw in Ep. 1 though.  In the photo of the crash, I have the impression that we are looking south.  So the tail section crashed on the west side of the island and the fuselage is on the south and Othersville is on the north, or at least north of the crash sites.  The map might work if it were a mirror image.<br>

As far as where Hydra island is located, my guess would be north or northeast of the other island.  <br>
