Desmond also got drunk on his sailboat when he returned to the island and realized he couldn't get away. That island could turn anyone into a drunk.

You'd think that Desmond doesn't really need to be on the island anymore. The ring lady told him that pushing the button (and apparently turning the failsafe key) would be the most important thing(s) that Desmond would ever do. So there's no reason for him to be on the island anymore, is there? Unless his insight can somehow right...

I don't get why people seem to think all the stuff relating to Desmond's story is insignificant...I personally think it's going to be more than significant by the end of the finale, especially in regards to whether or not Charlie lives.

Remember the Outer Limits (90's series) where the science professor keeps going back in time to correct wrongs? Each time, of course, it resulted in a different future that required another trip back into time to fix a new problem. Problem was that she retained the memories of all the different time-lines and it caused her to go a bit crazy in the head. Hopefully Desmond won't go completely cuckoo for Coco Puffs.

I read somewhere that adril translated better to trick or manipulated, but I only know half-assed German so I'm not sure.

Probably this idea is flawed, but here goes.

Seems to me that Desmond's different visions are from different timelines. Charlie dies, the timeline continues as envisioned. Save Charlie, the timeline branches off at that moment, creating another timeline.

Or Fionnula's character is the key to understanding the bend in time? Aargh.

I read somewhere earlier in this thread that someone said that Adril means 'Catch' in Portuguese. However, I speak Portuguese, and as far as I know, catch is apanha or pega. I've never even heard of the word adril before.

Well, at least the writers really responded to last year's complaint of, "You have too few women on this show!", I guess.
