No but I did convince myself it would be red headed and ugly, I was over joyed I got two normal (subjective of course) ones!

I had a very tall and very fat friend who had a twelve and half pound baby. His head was so big, they had to a Caesarian. When he was about a year old or so, I was babysitting and I threw my back out trying to put him in a grocery cart. Damn fat babies. Damn them to HELL!

That's what I thought, dmb, but here in my 50's I've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and so the wondering started up again. I guess it was all that mexican food I ate while I was pregnant with him...could not get enough of the burritos!

yeah, they should have caught it. it was a long time ago, but as i recall they did a routine blood test, and when my sugar was high, i had to do a fasting test at the hospital.
after that, i was issued a glucose testing kit, and had to have absolutely NO sugar in any form until the baby was born. that's difficult, but entirely doable. the good part was i learned a lot (at the time) about hidden sugars in foods by reading labels.

my son was fairly big - 10 lb. 9 oz. i've always wondered, though, if the diabeetus had anything to do with that. i was at the ob/gyn's office every month, though, throughout the pregnancy, so they would've picked up on it, right? he went into fetal distress, and they did an emergency c-section; knocked me out completely, since i'd been trying to go the lamaze all-natural route, and they had to get him out fast. he was in the neonatal icu for the first 24 hours, just for...
