Okay here is the one for the lady killed crossing the street. It's in a rather dangerous spot so I took it out the car window. Notice the hanging basket? I don't know how the people get there to care for it as it's on the side of a 4 lane highway.

One day someone will get smart and rich when they design some kind of classy, portable roadside memorial dealie that includes a fancy bucket for flowers that you can engrave a name on, with a cross sticking out of it (include some colored markers to write messages on it) and a couple of shelves for knick knacks on the sides.

Call it "port-a-shrine or "shrine-to-go" or something.

A fitting memorial, truly. Maybe they save the cups and reuse them. Or, more likely, they take the cups down and use them at the next kegger! Recycle, Reuse, Respect!

Them kids at the local high school have taken to using styrofoam cups in the chain-link fence to spell out the name/nick name of the decedent. Next time I see one in place, I'll snap a shot to share. It's sad, but it's also kind of nice that someone remembers.

someone leaving a CANE is a nice touch as well.

There is a dirty memorial around here as well. Poor kid died 2 days before Christmas, and I drive by that damn dried up dirty Christmas wreath every morning. I also know where there is a pretty well kept up memorial for some lady who was hit crossing the street. I may have to get a pic of that to rival yours Dharmit!

Janelle loved her Full Throttle and her Faygo.

She died Memorial Day weekend last year. She was 16. A drunk driver jumped the curb and hit her and her friend as they walked down the street. She died at the scene. She was born on Halloween. I kinda like the girl now that I've read up on her.

Janelle is still the shit!

Are these things in every city and town? We never used to do that kind of thing when I was a kid.

A 15 year old girl was killed by a car, about 1 block from my house,(about a week ago, so I know it is still very recent) and today when I went by, there were pictures, candles, teddy bears, tons of flowers there. There is another site about 5 blocks from my house where someone was killed about 2 years ago....they still have a cross on a tree, and always flowers and little mementos are...
