Check if there are any skydiving schools in your area. Maybe they have old chutes that they are taking out of service. Also, maybe there are military surplus stores on the net that might have one.

well I'm going to seem like pracitcally saintly when I tell you what else I'm doing.

I'm going to see if I can get a crate somewhere (maybe Chinatown) and pack it in there with shredded newspaper or something along with some 'supplies' from the Dharma Initiative. I printed off some Dharma labels for things like Cashews, Hot Sauce, Chili, tuna, and will throw them in the crate...
