I can't think of any famous crimes here in my hometown of Raleigh, NC. We did have the Duke Lacross Rape case a few years ago in nearby Durham, which is a famous crime that didn't really happen.

I guess none of this compares to serial rapist Kevin Coe, and after he was found guilty his mom tried to get the judge and DA assassinated, although she would have been happy just to have the DA wear diapers the rest of his life.

I can't think of any crime occurring here that ever got any notice beyond a local level, but the decision by one of our middle schools to offer birth control and the Plan B pill to students who need it was treated as a crime by a rather vocal segment of the country.
