I don't agree with banning somebody unless they have crossed the line and done something so truly, sickeningly offensive that #1) they are given a chance to repent for it and don't, or #2) is so horrible that immediate banning is needed. The only time I think I remember seeing someone get banned from sucks was when somebody knowingly posted, as a "joke," a phony press release that Claudette Yamin (Elliot's mom) had died {note: this was a year BEFORE she actually passed...

Yeah, I agree that when you log onto this site, you should be prepared for pretty much anything, but by the same token, I hate it when political bullshit gets dragged into numerous threads of this forum. It just throws everything off topic and it's a big drag. That's not why this forum is here. If somebody's spoiling for a political fight, there are plenty of opportunities to do so over at OT.

And about the intolerance thing: I'm simply not going to practice tolerance toward someone who doesn't believe I deserve equal civil rights. Throwing back the 'you're just as intolerant toward Christians' -- well, damn right I'll be intolerant toward the ones who are anti-gay rights. Only that's not intolerance, unless I guess you believe that it's a shame Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks couldn't have just been more tolerant and let those white folks...
