The scenes with each of the freighters (like Daniel crying on the couch) were designed to show how each of them got recruited on the mission (including Michael). These scenes happened before the freighter left for the island. Therefore we can not use these scenes as proof that he survived unless the writers pull a "Daniel was watching a TIVO of old news items" stunt.

What we should be asking is that after the island moves, are we shown the remains of the freighter in...

The hydra station was pretty close to the island considering Patchy was shooting towards Desmond with a rifle while he was anchored over it. That would be significantly less than a mile distant.

Okay, back to Daniel. My observation was that after he dropped off the boat load on the freighter he saw Desmond. They didn't talk but they saw each other. So Daniel meets his constant. Did anyone else notice that Daniel started acting rationally after that. I think he really wanted to get the others from his group off the island because he knew it was going to disappear and he wanted to get as far away as possible before it did. I think he picked up his notebooks and other gadgets...

I think that's a pretty good list, Anti. It seems like everyone could see the island, and I doubt the boat people were so far away that they couldn't get sucked into whatever the hell happened to the island.

Correcting a few things here:

- we did not specifically see the raft's proximity to the island or the freighter or anything else. The two reaction shots we saw of the rafties were from behind (i.e. the direction of the island, looking toward the remains of the freighter, which was absent in the shot). There was a wide shot of the island right before a cut to them looking back in its direction, but this doesn't necessarily mean that was their view. However, if it was, it...

I don't dwell on it too much. That scene would have sucked major ass without the blinding light, the O6 (plus Desmond/Frank)/ Daniel and Co. actually seeing the island go poof, Sawyer and Juliet wondering wtf , also seeing Hydra disappear as well.
Even I was a little worried that moving the island might turn out to be one of those "oh you gotta be kidding me" moments, but damn if it wasn't awesome. My assumption is Ben turning the wheel did uncloak the island...

That's the crux of the whole problem. Previously it was nearly impossible for anyone to find the island or to see it. All of a sudden there are no obstacles to seeing the island or seeing stuff away from the island in places where presumably they couldn't be seen before. The only thing I can figure is that on that specific heading you can see back and forth. But then it shouldn't have been so difficult to find the island in the first place if you had a general idea of where it...

The helicopter could see (and be seen) by the island and they weren't transported. Why assume the freighter remnants were?

How was it all of a sudden possible to see the freighter from the island when it exploded? Either it was within the island's "domain" or maybe it just happened to be on the correct 305 degree heading so it was visible? It just seemed odd to be that all of a sudden the cloaking device seemed to be turned off. Was this because Ben had put the metal in the time toaster and shorted things out?

The island did take the Hydra island with it, so hopefully it grabbed the raft too.

RIGHT. Daniel and co. were seen alive in the raft and definitely closer to Lost island than Hydra is to Lost island makes me think they made it. Did that make sense? Unless Hydra in connected to the island in a way that distance wouldn't matter. I can't see Charlotte and Miles being the only 2 freighters who survived. I know the writers don't...
