OK so I'm watching this Nickelodeon classic on DVD and generally enjoying all its quirky glory and snickering at all the random cameos.

The only thing is as a kid I remember liking Artie quite a bit although as an adult I'm wondering if he was supposed to be a paedo. That "my little
viking" business is a little on the NAMBLA side. But I guess if Artie has a developmental disability he can get away with it.

p.s. I did a search for this show and couldn't find a thread...

Damn. The episode with Lucious Jackson playing the dance apparently happened during Season 3 so I can't see it on DVD. C'mon Nickelodeon and release
all the episodes!

Speaking of other Nick shows... damn do we have Salute Your Shorts and Hey Dude threads? Oh and Clarissa Explains It All.... I worshipped that show when I was
10, but I'm kind of scared to see it now as I highly doubt it will be as awesome as it is living in my memory.

I absolutely love this show and was so pissed off when they canceled the third season DVD--I really hope they get around to releasing it eventually. The DVDs
are pretty cheap, I got them for less than $20 when they first came out and the price has probably been reduced since then. It's actually a lot better now,
partly for nostalgia and partly because I get more of the references and jokes. I always hated Artie and thought he was the only annoying part of the show
though. I love the...

This show could actually be one of the most influential TV shows ever.

It proved that you could be surrealistic especially in a children's show and still get great ratings and appeal to adults. This would spawn such stuff as
Malcolm in the Middle, and Parker Lewis Can't Lose and probably influenced a lot of adult programming in little ways, like integrating mythology and
reality, breaking the third wall by talking into the camera, fallible parents and retrospective comedy....

This is where Danny Tamborelli peaked. He sucked on All That a few years later.

I also like the episode where Little Pete meets the guy that inspected his underwear, and the guy turns out to be a perfectionist. And the episode where
Little Pete and his friends try to get the penny off the track. And, the episode . . . OK, they're all pretty damn good.

I'm not ashamed to admit that it was my favorite show as a kid and still is now that I'm a full-blown adult. Completely surreal take on suburbia. I
think the show is awesome. It's the one show I'll admit to being a complete dork over.
My favorite episode is "New Years Pete", which is the only ep that Little Pete narrates instead of Big Pete. It has Frank the crossing guard who

I also love the summer vacation one and April Fool's Day.

ETA: I also loved Petunia. And, I think this is where Michelle Trachtenberg made her start. She was Little Pete's friend, Nona F. Mechlenberg (don't
know about the spelling and don't ask how I remember that). She was from the Show Me state.
