I used what it said to on the (2x) bottle and my clothes all came out clean. The liquid also looks thicker. I'd say it really is concentrated.

I use Purex too and forget it is concentrate and use twice as much.

I used two caps right full (past the large load line) and it didn't over suds for me on a large load. The "concentrated" marketing is a total grift, it's the same product, you just get half as much for the same price. I looked other laundry soaps today and it seems all the liquids are like this. I did notice that you can still find the old giant box of Tide powder though. I was hoping to find a Method brand laundry detergent but didn't see anything.

If Walmart, Target, etc., were all that concerned about the environment, they would be pushing cloth diapers. But you don't get much repeat business on cloth diapers so the shelf space for disposables will remain.

True.

Not only that, but for some unexplained reason they are ONLY selling the giant packs of paper towels and toilet tissue now (with rare exception). These take up massive shelf space.

Better get used to the 2x bullshit.

Recently Wal Mart and Target both issued a statement that they are eliminating non-concentrated laundry detergents because smaller packaging is better for Mother Earth. It also saves them shelf space.

I am not sure if this has taken effect across the nation yet, but if it has not come to pass in your area, you will find that when the switch is made you'll get the last of the non-concentrated "good stuff" on clearance for...

I assumed the new 2X Gain was bullshit, so the first time I used it, I poured in as much as I did with regular Gain. What followed was like a scene from a sitcom (or a foam party, whichever you prefer), except it's not hilarious (or sexy) when it actually happens to you at home and you have to clean it up. That shit was all over the floor. Now I am using like a tablespoon of that stuff.

Have you been had by this new trick packaging of Gain? I don't believe it's really 2X concentrated because I did some towels and they came out smelling anything but fresh. I had to re-wash them using two capfuls of this stupid Gain that is really 2X THE PRICE!!

Remember when laundry detergent came in those giant two person lift boxes of powder?? Those were the days.
