I'm kind of afraid of heights too, not deathly mind you, but afraid nonetheless. I didn't think it (the BridgeClimb) was bad at all. But whatever you decide to do, I'm sure you'll have a blast. It's wonderful over there. I can't wait to go back someday.

I hear Australia is a pretty cool place to visit. They love Americans. As soon as you disembark the airplane you're met by actor Paul Hogan who gives you a shirmp fresh off the barbie. You're then whisked away by native aboriginals and their pet koala to meet famous Australian director Peter Weir at his home, where he tries to explain the underlying subtext to his 1977 film The Last Wave.

Lone Pine Koala sanctuary just outside of Brisbane - you can take a city bus there and it's less than $3 each way and about 30 minutes from Brisbane depending on what part.

Lone Pine is not outside of Brissy, it's at Fig Tree Pocket - an inner suburb, but forget...

Do the BridgeClimb in Sydney. I don't care how much it costs, it's totally worth it. It's especially cool if you time it so that you get to see the sunset. Then you get to wear the neat little miner's lamp on your head.

The Taronga Zoo in Sydney was something I also enjoyed. I did some day trips to the wine country and the caves which were a lot of fun but you might not have that much time.

The Opera House is a must-see and I thought the tour was pretty...

Yeah, because you can't feed fucking dolphins or go to clubs or zoos here. Go to Canberra. I liked it. It was full of Canberrian shit that you can't see anywhere but Canberra.

I'm from Brisbane - hersavvyness' suggestions are good ones. You may also be able to do dolphin feeding at Moreton Island, I think they still do it in August.

If you're not too fussed about a raving nightlife, I'd stay in Port Douglas rather than Cairns if I were you. It's a lot nicer, and closer to the reef.

As for Steve Irwin, well he's dead as well all know, but his zoo is still going. It's about 1 hour north of Brisbane, and is worth a visit...

Thanks savvy - We're trying to figure out things to do in Brisbane - I know me and the girls are going shopping, and he won't be about that at all!

The Tangalooma thing sounds awesome! I wanted to go scuba diving in the GBR, but I have asthma and apparently they wont' let me do it.

Tangalooma dolphin resort on Moreton island. Feed the dolphins, hang out on the beach, parasail, jet ski, snorkeling and diving, whale watching, go sand tobaganning down a dune the size of a football field. It's a little over an hour away from Brisbane, so if you're in that area already, you might as well go.

So I'm going to visit an old friend in Australia in August. He lives in Canberra, but I'm flying into Sydney and we'll be there a few days. I want to go to Brisbane to see some friends, and go to Cairns to go find Nemo in the Great Barrier Reef.

But I'm supposed to figure out what and where I want to go - because this Qantas ticket from LAX-Sydney has 3 inside Australia flights.

So, any suggestions what I should go see? And Steve Irwin and his stingray are...
