Yeah, based on actual events, whatever. I read an interview with the director where he said when he was younger, some kids were knocking on his neighborhood doors and if no one answered, they'd rob the house. There's what the story is based on: dumbass shit.

I don't think there will be a sequel.

They made a huge deal about this movie being "based on true events." I'm not sure they'd write a fictional sequel, though I highly doubt there is much truth to this movie.

Not a huge fan of Funny Games either, but it was MUCH better than this shit. At least FG kept me engaged and had some unexpected moments.

Btw, has anyone here watched Funny Games? If so, how would you rate it compared to The Strangers?

People keep making this comparison but the 2 are not anything alike. In fact, The Strangers is exactly the type of movie the director of Funny Games was targeting.

Also, I have loved all of the Scary Movie movies as well. Number 4 wasn't as good as the rest, but I think its the fault of the guy they hired to play the part of the dad. He wasn't convincing in any of the jokes, and it dragged when he was on the screen.

This movie would've worked better as a supernatural episode.

It wasn't a long movie, but it definitely felt like it. I just stopped caring about halfway through.
