That's what I'd be counting on, for sure. "Smuggler", or "Gangster" would be pretty funny to see too, I should say. Although, I'm actually surprised they haven't cast someone who's a New York Cabbie or something like that, since you'd think they'd be good for...something. At least more than the really quiet people.

I'd like to see more contestants with quirky jobs and backgrounds:
-cult leader
-psychic and medium
-someone who's super smart but have OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)
-former child prodigy who hasn't quite lived up to his potentials
-love or dating guru
-private detective who specializes in extramarital scandals and affairs
-socialist or anarchist
-someone who ran away from home to join the circus
-executioner (people who carry out death sentences in...

^ Also, there are 16 personality types. It seems to me that every season Survivor tries to assign at least one contestant into each different type. So, if you apply but the show already finds other people to fit into that personality type, you're not gonna get cast for that season.

I don't think Survivor cast individuals. It cast a group of people whose backgrounds, personalities, abilities and skills complement and link to each other. The group of people are different but have hidden or subtle "linkages" to each other. You can basically draw a mind map and discover how each player in the game could be connected to each other in some way via some common interests or backgrounds.

When you have a slut like Erika doing the casting why are you surprised most are recruited at LA clubs? Yep, I bet she does party on MB's dime. It's the lazy way out. Does NOT give a true cross section of the population to play and I think it stinks. I'm tired of their perfect white teeth, bodies and all the crap. Give us season one again. please.....

No-one wants to see a cast of recruits because it alienates the hard-core viewers who still harbour a vague hope of getting on the show.

I personally believe that a few of the survivors each year are only on there to be easy first boots. They want to give the survivors 'easy ones' for the first boots so that the ones they really want on the show...

i am 50/50 on recruitment. i want most of the people on the show to come from the people that actually applied to be on the show, but i don't have a problem with small amounts of recruiting, but it has gotten way out of hand for the amount that they do.
