Uncommon (500 thousand-1 million people): Bought boring women's magazines (Fit) or hot men's magazines (Stuff) with her on the cover and pulled for her more literally. Downloaded her stuff on Youtube. Are insanely jelous of anybody who's had sex with her (her husband, Kelli Pickler, her father). Turned your bedroom into a shrine for her. Very Rare (350 thousand): Actually bought her CD.

Kat has a bigger voice than Brooke, but Brooke understands what she's singing about while Kat just hits the notes. Give me a singer with a smaller voice who's able to convey what the lyrics mean to her than a singer who mindlessly belts the right notes and demonstrates a wide octave range for the sake of demonstrating a wide octave range.

Plus Brooke knows where she is at musically. (Folk/Pop) While Kat (as her last album showed) doesn't know where she fits
musically. (Personally, I think she would do well in musicals and MAXIM.)

Carly, Brooke and Aloha Kitty would sing circles around Kat. KKKristy's a Rodeo trainwreck. Kat wouldn't fit in with these girls, maybe if she took Screamesha's spot, but otherwise the key emphasis this season is how "unique" the contestants are, and she isn't exactly unique. Coming from someone who had the McPheever and she was the only person I voted for in Season 5.

Brooke's voice is different than Kat's so it's difficult to compare them vocally. It's a different style and delivery. I think Brooke is more musically talented overall than Kat, i.e. can play instruments, has a style, presence, and maturity on stage when she delivers the song. Kat has a voice, and when she hits the notes, she hits them beautifully. Unfortunately it's a rarity that she hits them throughout an entire song.

Kat is a beautiful woman with a pretty nice voice. I definitely think the actual song itself was boring, not the fact that she sang it. I don't think that Carly or Brooke singing that same song would have shook the joint either.

The girl does know how to light up the stage though. Her performances of "Until You Come Back To Me" and "Come Rain, Come Shine"...

Vocally I'll give you Carly but Brooke is horrible as a singer compared to Kat... The girl has a pretty incredible voice when she picks the right song.

As many have pointed out it's not purely about talent...it's a package and Kat still has the right package to get the votes...

Carly and Brooke are far more talented than her, IMO. If Kat were there this season, the potential would be there for her to go farther than them in the competition based solely on her looks, not talent. And that would piss me right the fuck off. So I'm glad she's not there this season.

I didn't think she was that bad? She looked gorgeous and her voice wasn't as screechy as it was two years ago. It was a bit boring, bgut she'd probably do well if she was a contestant again this season.

I agree with opendoor (!). Kat's gorgeous, but her voice is nothing special. Take away the visuals and that's what you're left with, nothing special. She needs to be where people can see her if she wants any sort of career.

Kat did an ok job and it's nice that David Foster is working with her. But Wed this season is Idol flops night and that's what she is. She's good but not great as a singer and without the visual who's going to buy any album from her.
