1) I have really dry eyes now. When they do the procedure, they cut a flap of your eye (and then peel it back and laser what's behind it), and that also cuts the nerves that tells you when your eyes are dry. Every morning i wake up and use eye drops, and at night my eyes are also dry. (this has been for all 6 years). It probably doesn't help that i'm in front of a comptuer 24/7, but i was also in front of a computer 24/7 before it and never had problems....

This is my life after LASIK, I am in month 3 and I am trying so hard to stay alive after LASIK, life before LASIK was heaven and now it is hell:

-severed corneal nerves in my eyes can no longer send messages to the brain to secrete the oils and $#+%! needed to lubricate my eyes, so now my eyes are incredibly painfully dry and irritated
-incredible pain behind my eyes
-lack of sleep because of pain
-diagnosed with major depression & PSTD following LASIK
-tried...

I've been thinking about doing this considering that every single pair of glasses I have owned end up sliding down my nose to look like librarian glasses. Contacts are a pain to have to purchase in addition to my ever changing glasses prescription every year, so who knows. Its either this or buy a dog.

I had it done over two years ago. No problems and it's AWESOME not having to fuck with glasses anymore.

GET IT DONE!!!! And don't pay more than $2k for both eyes, but no less than $1400.

You won't regret it.

I wish! My eye sight is too low for that, so I went to talk to a doctor about getting another eye surgery done to help me see better than I do now. I was told this other eye surgery was made for people who have really bad vision, but they told me I shouldn't get it...

LASIK for -2.25? That's barely worth it, IMO. You're an adult, nearing your 40s, I wouldn't worry too much about your eyesight possibly getting much worse. Unless you have other reasons like sports or job-related reasons, it might not even be worth it for you. However if you do decide to get it done, get opinions from a number of surgeons. Although I'm glad I had it done:

My glasses get frustrating when I go snowboarding. I have to try to wear them under my goggles, and it is a pain in the ass. Sometimes they get shifted and I see half prescription and half blurry, not sure if that is a person in front of me. It is uncomfortable too.

So, I guess i need to get my happy ass in to the doc soon to try out a new script.

Lasik has supposedly come a long way just in the past couple of years. Your success rate is supposedly a lot better if you have it today--compared to the people that had it 5 years ago. Assuming your doctor has all the latest stuff--at least that's what the Lasik people told me when I went in for a consult.

I can't stand wearing glasses, and while I could probably deal with wearing contacts forever, lately they've been irritating my eyes, which is why I'm...

I had it done in January of 2000, so it's been over 8 years for me. I don't know what my eyeglass prescription was but my contacts were negative 600 and 650 (I was blind as a mofo). I had the procedure, went home, took a nap, and woke up to instant results. I had some dry eye for a while, maybe 1-2 months, but no other problems. I have been 20/20 ever since, although I do think it's starting to slip a little now. Last week I went for a new drivers license...I just moved to...

I know I might still need reading glasses - that's a natural progression and it's been made VERY clear that Lasik does not stop that from happening. I'm anxious for my consult and hopeful to get it done in July. I have to use my HSA funds for it, and my plan year starts July 1.

Lasik is very safe. I had my eyes done in October with mono-vision (close up in one, distance in the other) and couldn't be happier. Just about everyone I know is getting it done and no one (except 1) hasn't been glad they did it.

The only person I've ever known to have problems was a girl who let a 'traveling surgeon' do her eyes. This guy has his machine in the back of his truck and brings it into the eye dr. office...I kid you not! She had to have a cornea...

I know more people who still need glasses after, have bad night vision or otherwise have poor success. The few I know who it worked for love it, recommend it and it was almost instant. Within a week it was perfect vision.
I've known too many people with jobs close to perfect but not perfect enough. You only have one set of eyes. Wear sexy spectacles.

Anyone here had it?

How were the results? Immediate? At 6 months? 1 year? Longer?

I am looking into it and want some feedback.

I am currently nearsighted, with a prescription of -2.25 in both eyes for my contacts. Both of my previous optometrists think I'd be a good candidate for the procedure.
