I don't feel bad about the mental illness stuff - first of all, people have to live with it, and I know if I had some disease, I'd turn it into comedy material; and second of all, Josh Blue is funny and has disabilities. What I do feel bad about is how the contestants are treated during the audition rounds - I wonder sometimes why people even try out anymore. Then I remember - Idol's a household name with iron-clad "company secret" contracts.

I don't find it the least bit funny or entertaining, and its obvious not just mental illness is represented but retardation. Not everybody gets a 120 IQ in this world, and a lot of their "contestants" on there probably have a hard time discriminating when they are being made fun of as well. I enjoy watching real auditions of people who can actually sing. I don't enjoy watching people who can't sing and have disabilities being made fun of.

After Doug said that his father told him that he hated him--and Doug clarified that his father meant that he hated Doug himself and not just his singing--that audition couldn't have been sadder and more inappropriate to air for entertainment purposes.

There's a somehwat mentally ill guy( I don't know exactly the name of what he has) who lives on my street and made it to the Canandial Idol auditions. They actually aired it as a classic mock edition where the judges clearly poked fun at him. I guess it's funny when you don't know them, but when you do, it really does look mean.

Delusional fucks who think they are future superstars are funny. A lot of these deluded nerds are, if not mentally ill, definitely shortbus material. I loved WB Superstar, so I'm not going to claim any moral superiority. But it's all getting old and played out anyway. Probably the only contestant that has made me LOL so far was the "Go Down Moses" dude. I still chuckle a little, but I feel a little dirty afterward.

Not all psychos are entertaining in Idol. This season, Temptress, the singing I'm your brother, Alexis and the Star wars girl are the most entertaining so far. The others are blah especially the chest hair man. He's so freaking annoying.
